If Chris Wilder takes us back up this season, then yes, without a shadow of a doubt he is our best manager in modern times.
That view isn't just emotions based, it's factual - no other manager has taken us up into the Premier League twice, and no-one has ever managed to get us back at the first time of asking.
The size of the rebuild in the Summer should never, ever be underestimated - many good, solid, dependable managers would have crumbled to pieces under the pressure of rebuilding a capable side with a takeover happening in the background - Wilder stood up, puffed his chest out and got it done.
Just look at Luton, no reason on Earth why that couldn't have been, and perhaps should have been us - other than the man himself.
Get up, and then get the statue built!
