Arblaster is very talented, but has yet to score a goal, get an assist or play in a winning side for us yet. There is still a long way to being the fulcrum of a promotion winning team, or having Prem teams splash 20 million on him. Arblaster could well step up and be all these things for us this year, but I would be a bit cautious with these expectations. The figure being quoted for Osula, seems exceptional, but he is a striker, so I don't see Arblaster being worth more. I also think we need to see a bit more clearly Arblasters role in the team, I was expecting him to be the one linking the defence and attack in the vain of Coutts, but Souza seems to be the first one receiving the ball off the centre backs. Arblaster got quite crammed into that inside left area with Hamer, O'Hare and Burrows all taking up similar positions during the first half at Huddersfield, in the second half he moved over the right side of midfield, where there was a lot more space and he had more influence going box to box.
I can’t disagree with most of that .
The lad clearly has a lot of natural ability and the potential to become a very good footballer . However , if that potential is to be realised there are a number of aspects of his game which need to be improved upon .
Not least of these is his annoying tendency when receiving the ball , to immediately make a short sideways or backward pass without even looking to see if there is an option to move or carry the ball forward and have a more positive impact on the game , which has often been the case .
In addition , his positional sense often leaves much to be desired and when having to retreat to a defensive position when we lose the ball his effort and determination in this respect are usually less than impressive .
I sincerely hope both for our sakes and his that he turns out to be top class player but as things stand , he has some way to go in that respect imo .
