If you want to play with the big boys, but are a weedy little runt you need to have an alternate approach in order to effectively compete, just as we did the first season we went up.

Indeed it is, and it's fine so long as the same level of money is coming in to support the outlay.
The big issues come if you are relegated, which is why it's a poor approach at the bottom part of the league.

The Lallana signing smacks a bit of the Southampton-version of Bladey-Bladeness (Sainty-Saintness??). I think his wages would be better spent elsewhere and it looks more of a nostalgia signing that someone who is going to make a difference for them on the pitch.

He's good but if Anel is not playing it would be Robbo and Edwards both of which are 5.11ft and that would worry me, particularly at corners.

Watched him quite a few times for Peterborough. Very tidy defender, really wanted us to try for him on a permanent because at £3m he was an absolute bargain. Sadly, had no chance once Southampton came in.

I'd still be keen for us to sign him, but he isn't the Souttar replacement we need.
His game is far more akin to Anel's.

Also - apparently our neighbours are in for him.
They already have Shea Charles from Southampton (their best player this season).

If we want a 5ft 11 central defender we may as well play Gilchrist there. One reason we've been so solid this season is our defence dominating forwards and winning everything in the air. We need a Souttar lookalike not another undersized centre back

Any CB shorter than 6'3" would have to be something very special , which we probably couldn't afford.
These days 6'3" is pretty much a minimum for a CB which might be why Alfie is trying to convert to RB ?

Without Souttar & Souza we lack height through the team except for Anel & Moore.
I know it's a crude way of looking at things but we have quite a few shorties , so need a balance.

i think we will move gilchrist to centre back or compete for a spot and bring a rb in to compete with seriki for that spot

Like I said on the other thread, since these idiots won’t say where they’ve heard x, y or z rumour, chances are BBD is injured.

Our current ITK table is insufficient at actually tracking who came up with which rumour so they can be publicly shamed.
