Ont way back up M5 now after what can only be described as a game that lacked from both teams. Had a boring 0-0 draw written allover it and they will be more gutted than us not to get a point from it but like us they didn't deserve 3 points. It was scrappy as hell and both teams put numbers behind the ball.

Good quality dangerous ball put in the box and I think the bristol player put it into his own net not totally sure though but a good quality cross into a dangerous area. Other than that we were nowt special but neither were they.

Will happily take 3 points from a boring goalless draw and it will make this journey a bit quicker home.

We should take whatever comes our way, however it comes. It's about gaining some momentum and escaping the relegation zone. Well done for making the trip.

My son and his mates are now hooked like was back then, and on their way back. Hopefully without the fracas in the park - he couldn't care less about the performance now, last gasp wins are just great.

Home now and will follow this up a little. I'm happy with the result don't get me wrong, the 3 points are very welcome at this stage of the season and results like this no matter ow they come can give a very welcome morale boost and can push you on to bigger things. I've seen the thread about winning ugly and I agree that points are very important at the minute and i'm the same, I don't care how we win we just have to win to kickstart our season.

But lets get a few things straight before we get too optimistic!......

That performance today was again mediocre. Yes we picked up three points on the road against an in form team at a tough place to visit but the game itself was a bit lackluster from both sides and in all fairness had a 0-0 draw written allover it. Now don't get me wrong I am over the moon that we blagged 3 points from a match that had draw written allover it, I am over the moon at that but we can not get overly carried away from this because for me at present all we take from this game is 3 points.

I can see how Clough is trying to play. I can see he is trying to work on putting things right at the back and today it worked. I was impressed with how we conducted ourselves at the back to be fair and thought for the most we were comfortable but in every other area of the pitch we were average and so were our opponents.

This can be considered phase one of turning things around and we were successful in this phase. The next step is looking at creating more chances and putting a good few more of the type of ball that today caused mayhem at the back at bagged us a goal. Service for me at the minute hasn't been consistent enough. Looks work on getting down the wing and getting the ball into that anger zone, we need to create a good few more chances to win games because at the minute were still not doing enough.

Performances like this will not win us games regularly this season. Great we won, I'm happy, We are all happy but there is a hell of a lot of work to do. Let's enjoy it but keep our feet firmly planted.

Perhaps Nigel had done his homework well on Bristol City and it worked. He may not have the same game plan for other teams, unlike Weir who had the same plan whoever we played.

Just keep Matt Hill away from the team , misses a game - we win. Many say our downturn started when Ched got sent down but it started earlier than that on a cold night at Walsall ,when 2 players made their debuts .John Egan was one and swiftly departed ,the other has cost the other players so many bonus's Im surprised they don't tie his bootlaces together. Actually maybe they do.

I like Matt Hill, he did have a very poor start to his united career but I think he's a decent player for us now. I like to call him tigger as he can jump high and win every header :p

Really ? every header he wins go straight to the opposition ,he is an awful ,awful excuse for a footballer and has cost us so many goals and points this season.

Well we see things very differently .... also I respect him has he always acknowledges the crowd after games good, bad or awful performances he always gives us a good clap before going off.
Might just be a man crush of mine ;)

Looks like he will be at centre back on Tuesday as Maguire is out for one match (five yellows)

McMahon did well, but we need him to do it more regularly..same with White on the left.
We all remember Lowton getting in similar positions from RB under DW1,and we got a few OG's then and looked more dangerous getting around the back.
NC said in his interview he likes to play with width and hinted at getting the FB's to provide it.Hopefully he can get McMahon to provide more of a threat from now,or get a RB who can in JTW.

His positional play is appalling his distribution is below average at best.
Yesterday's left side line worked well please don't change it Tuesday.

At Walsall,Ertl gave one of the worst performances I had ever seen from a Blades player and Hill was our best defender that night(not hard I know). Although I agree he should be a squad player not a starter

A bit harsh,I thought we had a game plan(let them have the ball in their own half then pressure them from their) and looked to snatch a goal.It worked .

Not entertaining but it worked. Similar to how Wilson played it last season and it is was we need to avoid relegation. Once safe,NC can look at changing the style a little

Whilst I agree with the style of play and the game plan being spot on for this particular game you ignore the fact that for the most despite looking steady enough at the back we offered very little going forward again on the break. The success we had yesterday will not happen week in week out if we play like that and lets be fair Bristol weren't on the in form team we expected them to be, they look like we did under Weir. When we come up against the better teams in this league we need more about us.

The thing that still amazes me is the amount of attacking midfield quality that we have brought into the club but yet going forward we still aren't creating enough chances. If Doyle wants to play that anchor role then so be it but whoever plays alongside him in the middle of the park needs to look at making the edge of the opponents 18 yard box his hunting ground.

Like I said I agree with the game plan and set up working however we need to start looking at plan b and putting together that bit of quality because at the minute other than the rare flash we have very little.

I agree but at the present we need the points any way we can.I hope the style will improve in the medium term but for now, let's just get the points.

However i don't see this attacking quality in the squad as you do. Our so called flair players have so far disappointed. Culevier(sp) doesn't seem to want to get involved in a battle, Baxter maybe needs a run but doesn't appear fit enough but is probably the best of them,Flynn and Murphy need to be moved on and Taylor lacks goals . As for Fabien Brandy,he will be suspended for 7 before we have reached 20 league games. He needs to think of the team and stop re-acting to being tackled and stop diving or find another club who will accept his lack of delivery of a decent cross, persistant and indiscipline as an asset. This is a shame as he does have the pace and skills that could be an asset to us.

In my opinion we don't appear to have much proven attacking flair(flatter to deceive ?) and we may have to cope with being more workmanlike performances until NC can bring his own players in.However,i hope he does give McGinn more game time as we seem more balanced when he plays
