I've been playing SWOS all my life it's an amazing game.

There is a team that still updates it, and it's quite frankly brilliant. There are online modes now and you can customise it to your hearts content. There is even Bramall Lane stadium to play in.

You can download it from here

Anyway I just wanted to share the current squads ratings to see what you think! I didn't have anything to do with them but I thought it might make a mildly interesting post for a Tuesday morning.

Brewster with the best letters by the way: SVF.

Great to see other addicts.... I mean enthusiasts for this game still out there.

I was late for college and my part-time job many a time because of this damn game on the Amiga in the early 90's. "just 1 more game" on my career save, made me have to run to Crystal Peaks from home in about 5 mins! The Amiga and original discs have long since been disposed of, but I have always wanted a way to play it again. Currently enjoying it through emulation on the iPad using the '23'24 season. I also have the Amiga mini - https://retrogames.biz/products/thea500-mini/ - but cannot get the Amiga ROM of the new version to work on it. I can only get originals; Sensible Soccer, SWOS and SWOS 95-96 to work.

Vintage Shirt are you playing the PC version?

The greatest game of all time.

Can you play using a joystick (Konix Speedking obviously) on your PC?

Great memories of years gone by . If I can find time then I’ll have to download this .

I'm playing it on me steamdeck. Pc is the preferred way however. The support is amazing. If you join the discord somone will help you.

Many hours of my youth disappeared playing this on the Amiga with a Slik Stik Joystick, the best one for SWOS.

Sorry, but not a patch on Kick Off 2 on the Amiga! 😂😉

Kick Off 2 was the connoisseur's choice. Far harder to master, but absolutely sublime when it clicks. I really liked Player Manager too, which worked from the same engine (Dino Dini's).

Nah, like most football games of the era, Kick off 2 had a foolproof way of scoring. Chip from the edge of the box, and then slide in. Guaranteed to score every time.

Just use one of these.

Many a day in the 1990s sat in my bedroom waggling my joystick furiously, then after that I'd play some Kick Off 2.

Did I ever tell the story about when my Mother found all my copies of Razzle, Knave, and Men Only?

Sorry, going off topic here.

That might have worked against the lower levels, but the keepers on the better levels would just catch the chip.

Got me thinking of all the old football games from the Amiga or the Spectrum.

FA Cup Football
Brian Clough Football Manager (half board game half computer game!)
Match day 2
Emlyn Hughes International Soccer
Kick Off 2
World Cup Carnival
Vinnie Jones Grab Your Balls Football
Sensible Soccer
World Cup Football
Football Manager
Football Director
Tracksuit Manger
Peter Shilton Handball Maradona
Multi Player Soccer Manager

I'm done, I guess I've missed loads more?

There was the Man Utd games on the Amiga as well which were graphically amazing at the time.
