We are a far better side. The gap is huge between clubs to say were now in the same division.

If we beat them - all we will get is that we should have beat them
If we lose - they will book the open top bus for Hillsborough park because it's they're big day out

Hamer, Moore, Souttar, Souza, Arblaster will be key in this we've got to manage the game not the occasion. We've kept a comfy clean sheet against far better sides.

I've noticed they are complaining they haven't had a penalty for years ............. it's f****n sods law they get one to win on sunday.

Either way UTB

Agree....the official capacity is now 31,700 seats but the council run SAG will ensure there'll be a good 1500 empty seats
There'll be 2 no mans lands areas near both corner flags......meaning we'll barely break 30K.

Always makes me laugh how in the Manchester and North London derbies rival fans are separated by a single line of low level stewards.
They sit about 4 foot from each other, whereas in Sheffield even being in separate stands is not deemed safe enough.

Let’s face it. Would you want to be sat closer to a Wednesday fan?

Wonder if wilder will have one eye on that game already and rest a few tomorrow. Be tempted to rest Rak Sakyi and save him for Max Lowe 🤣

They have a tough game tomorrow like us,, if they lose that they will certainly be fired up for Sunday. They like us Don't have many in their team that have played in this game before. At least some of our coaches have been here a long time to get our players ready for what's to come

They will have to be on it to beat our defence I know that much

This is my thinking too.

Quite honestly if our defence and (crucially) midfield performs on the day, I struggle to see Wednesday getting much of a sniff of anything.

I also think their defence is quite poor by comparison and prone to collapses like we saw on Saturday.

We can be almost certain that Wilder will want us on the front foot at home, so whether Wednesday try to match us, or contain us will be interesting. But again, I think on both counts they might struggle.

What they do currently have is a striker in a bit of form in Smith, and a couple of players in Bannan and Windass who can occasionally produce something special. So that gives them a decent chance in a tight game and I could see this being a nervy 1-0 either way.

Anyway, we need to get Brizzle out of the way first and hope we don't pick up any big injuries.

I hate these games with a passion a week to go and my guts are churning. Anybody on the outside would look at the teams and stats so far and predict a comfortable United win but we know it doesn't always work out that way. There is a small matter of Bristol City away midweek hopefully all our player come out of that game fully fit and 3pts in the bag. The pigs on the other hand are home to a decent Norwich team, I can't see them getting anything from that game which will make them a desperate wounded animal when they visit the lane. I think they will kick anything that moves and try to use pace and bullying tactics against us, technically we are much better. If Barry Binman is the best they have we should dominate them. Trouble is form can go out of the window in these games and the pigs always seem to have a stroke of good fortune. No matter what they say the pig fans are shitting themselves, I think they will park the bus like they have ever since the bouncing day massacre and try to nick a late goal. We will need discipline and focus on what we do, a early goal will help if they try to play football we should murder them, going to be a very tough game we can't take anything for granted, if we do we will lose.

Their fans have nothing to shit themselves about

If we score 2 goals, we'll stop. It's the usual way under Wilder

On theory this should be our game to lose. I don't care how many times people say "play the game not the occasion" it just isn't possibly. The atmosphere is so tense at these games it will certainly rub off on the players and that will test their character.

A huge thing in our favour though is the staff and Wilder, being a blade himself and some of the staff too it helps drive home to the players what this match means to those in the stands and that should be firing these players up. No doubt Danny and the people at S6 will be saying the same but the difference I think will be in the conviction of what they're saying. Anyone can tell a squad of players this is a big derby occasion for the city, first one in literally years but it's whether you can get the squad to feel it too.

I wish it did but form and quality can sometimes count for fuck all in these games, as we're all aware, we should play these off the park but I somewhat get the feeling the reality will be different.

Obviously when Souza gets sent off we'll have to rejig things and probably bring on Peck for an attacking player. Peck then gets sent off.
Obviously when Peck gets sent off we'll have to rejig things and probably bring on Davis for an attacking player. Davis then gets sent off. :D

I Like this game

Will the netting be back above the away end? Can see a few things accidently being dropped if not....

Thing is talking to other teams who have local derbies, the majority think this is a non event. So why is segregation on an astronomical level.

I think this is hard to call - we are obviously favourites but I can’t work them out. I have seen them look really good and really terrible this season, and I don’t know which is the “real” Wednesday.
I know we like to bash Bannan on here but he is a very clever player on his day, and clearly sees things many don’t. Keeping him quiet will nullify their creativity. Marvin Johnson always impresses me too, but I think our defence should cope.
That said, a tentative 2-0 win for us is my prediction.

I think before the weekend Pigs would’ve wanted to go for it against us but now they’ll set up defensively as if they were to lose 6-2 to us that would be a season ender. I can’t stand em and this week build up is horrific, as long as we don’t lose I’m happy.

Agree that's normally the case but this season is different to any of our previous seasons in the Championship in that we just don't look like conceding.
It's obviously not a fluke or good luck. Although our defence comes under pressure at times, our goalie usually has little to do.
It's the first time, probably ever watching the Blades, where I don't feel nervous thinking the opposition will score a late goal against us.
Also strangely, again for the first time ever, I don't feel that nervous about us playing in a Steel City derby.

I'm becoming more and more confident the most any opposition in this league can possibly score is ONE goal.

Think it will be like all our other home games, apart from Luton where we were brilliant and looked like champions.
Think we'll be solid and efficient again, probably a 1-0 or 2-0 at the most.

The only grounds for optimism for Wednesday is that they are really inconsistent,
can play like relegation fodder but then other times look like play-off contenders. So it's not a forgone conclusion.

Football Gods : Hold my ambrosia……

Early goal either way should make things interesting!

Longer it remains goalless the tighter it will get and can then see it petering out to a boring 0-0 victory for the Pigs.
