Good to see us back in form after a tough spell around the Leeds and Boro games.

One thing I clocked on the Behind the Blades video from the Stoke game that joe casey posted on another thread, was Wilder’s expression as he was giving the post-match speech on the pitch.

No doubt a hugely emotional occasion but emphasises what they have been dealing with behind the scenes as a staff and group of players even more. Personally I look forward to playing Leeds and Boro at home when we’re back to our proper selves. We didn’t do ourselves justice and that’s understandable given the 7-10 days they’d had.

Finally, big praise for CW for steering the ship through what has been an extremely difficult time for all involved. Fantastic work from a fantastic manager.

Im not usually one to show much emotion but a few times over the last couple of weeks I've had moments that made me well up, im just a fan i appreciate we are invested in some way but i cannot imagine the impact this had on individuals and the club. Great post i agree for all his faults I'd not want anyone else managing us. I want to dislike him for the way he left but he is just bloody good at what he does. UTB

You’re right, it’s that old cliche that some things are just bigger than football and it needs leadership in such times

I’m sure the staff have learned at the club following the passing of Maddy Cussack as she was clearly a big part of the club even if she wasn’t playing for the team.

I think Wilder has led very well in what was clearly a very difficult time for him personally and the games against Leeds and Boro couldn’t have come at a worse time, really.

As you say, back on track and onto Bristol City in another big week

I was as annoyed as a lot of folk with the comments from Wilder pre Leeds and Boro, but perhaps he knew how much everyone was struggling and just wanted to take any pressure/expectation away for a couple of games.

I don’t think the two were linked, he’s very respectful to certain opposition and clubs, remember he did the same with the likes of Swansea on the way up.

But I do agree that he shielded the players from media attention

It was clear at the end of the Stoke game that he’d perhaps bottled a lot up and contained himself, but let it all out post match Stoke.

I was thinking about this the other day as well that Stoke will have happy memories for that promotion squad and staff of 2019 because of the celebrations on the pitch and afterwards. So to play them as the first home game after the passing of Baldock changes the memories for many of the staff

To be honest a think what the club has achieved from the start of the season is remarkable. To kick off with a tricky away at Preston and a minus 2 points made me fear the worst. In the stands at Deepdale I noticed a new Anel , Souza .Defeated men with their mojo back. I have no idea how this has happened with the insecurity of not knowing who will be the new owners and what direction the club is heading . Despite Weeds and Boro we have been the best team in this league without question without spending millions despite defeated teams fans claiming we have laughingly. I just hope that we don’t piss on our chips this January window and destroy the miracle that’s going on here .
But it’s United int it 🫣

Lovely post, thanks mate.

After the stoke, and definitely after yesterdays performance, I'm thinking the Leeds and Boro games were hard games, coming too soon after the challenging and emotional few weeks we've experienced as a club.
