This has been a bad week for Wilder. The mentality has been stripped of this team. Massive game at Leeds away on a Friday night, we want blood and thunder and we got a scared united side who obviously came for a draw. Where has the wilder gone that wouldn’t care less about who we were up against? We do not create any chances whatsoever.

And please, play the best team available. What is Brewster doing on that pitch, he is awful and has shown us so many many times. Brooks must be sat there in disbelief when he finds out he’s not playing for him! Burrows and Hamer! What are they doing on the bench?! Norrington Davies is simply not good enough for this level, Cooper was shaking his head at him near end.
i thought RND did ok not his fault he had two men to mark
he also provided the best 2 crosses on the night

“One short purple patch” FFS
I’ll happily say that I expected a bit better from the last two, in particular not taking such an inferiority complex to Elland Road.

But purple patch is a bit harsh.

Got Oxford promoted back to League Two.
Saved Northampton from relegation.
Won League Two with Northampton, who were beset with financial issues.
Won League One with us.
Mid table finish with us, only deprive of more due to Coutts’ injury.
Promoted from Championship.
9th in Premier League, robbed of Europe due to covid.

What comes next is:
Relegated in covid season and resignation.
Encouraging initial season with Boro.
Disappointing second season and sacking.
Bizarre 11 game caretaker stint at Watford
Failed to turn around a lost cause with Blades in PL.

That purple patch lasts quite a few years in fairness to him!

We're currently the 4th best team in the league, and would be a point off the promotion places if it wasn't for the points deduction. Them last two games have been shite but we've played Leeds and Boro away. Some of the opinions are mental (and very much pre-determined).
Watford gave Leeds a game at Elland road on Tuesday and pushed them back at times into desperate defending - Bristol City ( our next away game) did a 2-0 blast on Boro at the Riverside. No doubt Wilder will be bigging Bristol City up after the weekend with "and a impressive win at Boro" crap -How in those two games can we look so limp and devoid of anything indicating a desire to win the game, yet Watford and City both go and play with a completely different approach

Wilder should change tactics and formation; and also not change formation because that shows he’s bottling it. And Moore should be a better footballer than he is. And Brewster should have cost less money and not got injured so much. And we should be winning all our home games, and all our away games, basically all our games. And it’s not good enough that we’re about the same as all the teams who are in the same division as us, and a few are sometimes better than us (even though a few are sometimes worse than us). And Arblaster’s rubbish because he’s had two poor games. And Anel’s downed tools and doesn’t care - sorry we don’t do that one anymore; I mean Vini hates us and he’s the one that’s not good enough -
sorry we don’t do that one anymore either… what is it? Ohare! That’s it Ohare is err… too small and not as good at football as I thought he was. But mainly Wilder has lost two league games and I used to think Wilder was doing well last week, but now there’s one manager in our league who has won more games than him this season so that means Wilder is rubbish at being a manager and it won’t be long before we’re getting rid of him.
Spot on

Taking us from mid table div 1 to challenge for European football and finish 9th in Prem whilst playing a style of football not seen before - in 3 seasons with a team he put together from scratch - is the work of a messiah imo

However

He isn’t that man anymore and the last two games have confused , frustrated and bemused people due to his approach in team set up , selection and for some reason , bigging up the opposition to almost Real Madrid status .

This bloke was once fearless - his team were feared and held up as a blueprint for forward thinking ….

Imo he will be out soon …. His mentality has changed and he will lose supporters and perhaps the changing room ..the only reason he is back is that the Prince couldn’t afford anyone else at the time , and he was available

We lost, end of, on we go, people need to get a fucking grip, some of the shite I heard tonight was truly pathetic, I'm sure some fans expect a 4-0 win every game. We've lost our last 2, deserved to lose both but oh well that's that, we move on, stop fucking roaring about it some of you.
4-0 Really ? I shall run around the Lane naked if we ever score 4 with our strikers this year. Not a pretty sight by the way 😜

We just came down to the Championship from the league above.

It was hugely disappointing that we are amending tactics to suit the opposition.

It’s not even as if it was a risk reward thing. We created nothing and conceded the joint most amount of goals we’ve conceded in any match so far.

So, in terms of genius moves, it couldn’t have gone worse.

The next few games are certainly crucial ones for him.

That's just football init? We made Watford look pants. Sunderland are top of the league but they lost to them.

Picking individual games to judge how a team will fair over the season is pointless.

We werent robbed of Europe because of covid more like a dodgy goal line watch at Villa, Egan going walkabout against the Mags and losing the dressing room after Leicester. Covid didnt affect us till the following season.

The concern is our approach to both games was so bloody negative and laboured Watford played without fear with a lot of energy Bristol stuck to a good game plan -We got away with it at Portsmouth we have three games this week - lets revisit after Blackburn

I didn't watch tonight, I did see the Leeds game and thought we were just rubbish after the first 10minutes. Tonight sounds much the same.
We did more than OK first 9 games, but it's not a 9 game season.
I don't really have any faith in Wilder, and haven't for a very long time. I didn't want him to come back, but he did so there we go.
Some people need to get their heads around him not being the messiah, and him being a journeyman manager who's had one short purple patch in what is now a long managerial career. He's a bloke who got lucky for a bit, got found out, and is now just ambling about with United because nowt better came along for him, and he's a just the job yesman for the absentee owners.
His purple patch lasted about 15 years didn't it? Continual improvement, moving up divisions, improving every team he managed. He had a hell of a record in some desperately trying times for clubs like Halifax and Northampton. It's disingenuous to suggest otherwise.

Knilly and him created a machine that was fabulous. I hope they can again but there are some aspects of short sightedness that are concerning.

I'd like to see brooks and JRS on the pitch at the same time with a mandate to get forward and close to Moore. O'Hare isn't getting close and Hamer never will. Figure out a way to get Burrows over the half way line more to use some of his threat. Have more than one man in the box when we get the opportunity to get forward.

I'm happy to let him build this team, hopefully with more players coming in. I thought we were well short of senior players at the start and still do. I'm not really sure what would look a good option for us in management terms as an alternative.

It's not the losing so much , it's the team set up , the plan , the execution of tactics , team selection , in game management .
We all get a bit miffed when its not apparent what the plan is.
Defensively we look good , that apart it's a bit of a head scratcher .
The voice of reason, maybe!
I’d have a word with this forum owner if I were you. 😂
You picked a great place to be so reasonable!

We're just not an automatic promotion team at this stage. We're an unbalanced hodge podge of a side lacking in strength in depth. Our rebuild got to the midway stage (at best) and was pulled due to the ownership issue. People have got carried away due to a good start and are now seeing the reality for what it is and overreacting. My hope has always been that we can muddle through to January not cut adrift of the top six and then strengthen substantially as that's best case scenario.

Before all those things we had momentum.

That was very much lost with the months covid stopped the season.

A number of those such as form of players post break and the ghost goal also contributed but I’d say player form would have been hit by sitting doing little for three months after you’d taken English football by storm.

JOC's injury in lockdown was massive. The lockdown also fucked our fitness up. Whatever we did or didn't do didn't work.

Bringing in our players so late this season is also impacting this season. A big part of our success under Wilder last time was our fitness.

Completely agree. Personally I didn't want him back and nothing since his return has convinced me otherwise. Last 2 games apart we made a strong start results wise but we weren't playing particularly well, fluked an away win at Hull, failed to see off, (the now equal bottom side) 10 man QPR after being 2-0 up. Should probably have lost away at Pompey and laboured to a 1-0 v Derby & Swansea.

I do wonder following Wilders meeting with HRH last week whether he is feeling the pressure as the takeover gets closer and is making some rash decisions? Either way we will never get the "old" Wilder back and personally for me it is a case of when not if he goes. Next 4 are Stoke (H), Blackburn (A), Bristol City (A) and then the Pigs at Home....those 4 could and probably will define his future if the new owners are looking for an instant return to the top flight.

Covid did not rob us of Europe we had peaked and performances started to turn from Christmas though still getting results mainly thanks to our Keeper and defence -

He has a good record in the lower leagues, but this is now a long time ago. Since the 2019/20 season he's achieved nothing of any note wherever he's been. We can't rest on his past achievements. I'm not sure about management options for us going forward either, but if the next 4 games don't pan out well (and I don't mean winning them all, more the manner of play), it won't be looking good for him, and it shouldn't be. I feel that the players have some undoubted talent, but he probably isn't the person to get the best out of them.

Once again, you can criticise the team selection and subs but it's abundantly clear that the squad isn't good enough.

No cover for Vini
No cover/competition for Moore. (This I believe was meant to be Cannon but pulled last minute)

Shackleton and Campbell don't seem to fit into how we play.
Shackleton ,Campbell and Mcullen are L1 players at best

Don't bother starting 100s of new ones. Just put them all in here so I can mute the thread
I'm later to this thread as I'm on mi jollies.

How can anyone wet the bed after last seasons shit show? What is up with folk ffs?

If we finally do get another owner I reckon Wilders days are numbered

Nobody is to be fair .

Some have had the audacity to express a feeling of disappointment but nothing more .
Nowt wrong with expressing a disappointment mate, but as you know, there are many that thrive on negativity. They just can't wait to post when we lose and it's generally the posters that don't post that much.

Woodworm and all that 🤔

Yep , the thread and title was probably an attempt to categorise anyone with any criticism as bedwetters .
A " bring it on" thread
Most are pretty balanced so that's probably a bit disappointing.

I think McCallum is a decent player. Not sure as a FB as opposed to a WB though. It seems a bit weird that we signed Norwich's LB only to then sign Burrows. Now we have RND fit as well.

I wouldn't mind trying two of them on the left from the start of a game.

Not a popular opinion but most players are below top championship level, we're a shallow squad and when we can't play full strength it shows.

With that in mind, not a suprise we lost to Boro - Peck, Arblaster and Brewster just aren't good enough to be a core of any serious team

Hoping Jan brings more depth otherwise we'll keep sinking if we can't field our best 11.
