Talking of keepers - Carl Muggleton
If I remember correctly, he never actually played in goal for us? I have a vague memory of him coming on as a late sub away in an end of season game as an emergency striker at Reading in 95-96, but that’s all.

He was in the net for Stoke when we won 4-0 the following season when Vonk the Conk scored 2 headers from corners in the 1st half. Eventually Muggleton claimed a cross to ironic cheers from the Boothen End.

Yes, at the time there were three subs for League games. Kendall always had a keeper as one of the three subs. Two outfield players were already being used and late in the game one of our players was struggling with an injury so Kendall told Muggleton to come on as the third sub, I think Muggleton played up front.

I’ve got no recollection of that at all! I thought my 1990s SUFC knowledge was good, but that one would’ve failed my exam.

Muggleton came on for Chris Short, who went over an advertising hoarding and landed badly.

He went up front and touched the ball once: he controlled a throw in and flicked the ball down the line over his head, to wild acclaim from the Blades fans present.

We broke clear in the last minute and Dane Whitehouse made it 3-0, just beating Muggleton to the ball when it was crossed.

Peter Shilton played for Stoke and Wendy (am not making it up about the latter)
When did he do that? He never played a competitive game for them, that's for sure.

And my "played for both" is Bobby Howitt.
