I had to google that as I thought bollocks, 6 loan appearances to end his career. Must’ve slipped through the cracks of my memory that.

TBF Bent was a revelation when he first joined us (1999?) and helped the Warnock survival push, so we were safe by April. He must have been sold shortly after, and had limited success at the highest level.

Bent was, to quote Revo Sr, a "Big Donkey" when he signed under Adrian Heath. He looked awful and only scored twice pre Warnock. The chances he missed at Stockport had to be seen to be believed. He was a revelation when Warnock came in and was good to very good for the rest of his time at the club.

There were a number of players who were a lot better under Warnock than they were under Heath. most notably Shaun Murphy. Warnock did a fine job that season.

Bent 1999-2000

At Port Vale: 8 league games, 1 goal
Under Heath: 5 league games, 2 goals
Under caretaker Russell Slade: 2 league games, no goals
Under Warnock: 25 League games, 13 goals

The 25 game spell includes a 7 game barren run at the end of the season. as people may remember, once we got safe the team lost intensity and we did not win any of the last 9 matches.

Bent was sold in November the following season after scoring 5 times in the league (in a season when our top scorer got 6), and helped Blackburn win promotion.

He was crap in his second spell, of course.
