Sack him!

🤡s
I was thinking back to various people accusing me of being a pig or requiring therapy just because I said Wilder was the best man for the job last season but I was confident even then that this season we'd be a totally different outfit and with Wilder in charge I'm always confident we'll be up there. It's early days still but I expect us to be competing for the top two this season and thought so from the off.

I know mate.. I wasn't begging for Wilder to be manager but I was happy with it. The posts slagging him off were uncalled for tbh. He's improved our recruitment and injuries which was a big problem with Hecky.

You think you got it bad!

I was burnt on the stake for my opinions 😂

People will always change opinions based on the here and now , I wouldn't worry about it.
Most here would have happily driven Anel and Souza to the nearest airport with a 1 way ticket before the start of the season .
Agreed on that but it was clear CW was and is the best man for the job. I never saw any decent suggestions of managers that would change the club around from top to bottom and just "get it"

Good for you. Its nice to be right for a change isnt it. Not sure it required a "look at me" post though!

He's winning me round. Thankfully he's keeping his mouth shut and letting performances speak for themselves. I thought it was telling at the weekend when he answered a question about the boardroom with "that's not my area of concern. My concern is what happens on the pitch". It appears a leapord can change his spots!

I can understand the Anel redemption, as his glandular fever really impacted him, then a step up to the PL with a terrible CB next to him, really exposed him.

But, nobody could have convinced me that Vini would turn around his attitude, and be able to be elite in the champ. It's a fighter's league in CM. I can't recall a turnaround that matches this

I'd say at the start of the season it was far from clear for lots that Wilder was the best man for the job . After last season i think alot retained some healthy skepticism about how we'd start and if he could get us a utd side we'd recognise. It was very 50/50 with everyone hoping he could do it.
Some regarded this as anti wilder or wilder haters , not sure that was actually the case .

Credit where its due and we've started well, look like a team and he's done a good job of rebuilding . So far so good 👍

I think it did since your post was totally wrong and called me a pig which you had no foundation for just because someone has a difference of opinion to you. I never named you either on the post but, yes it was you I was referring to.

When I first heard Wilder was possibly coming back I was definitely against it because I wanted to see Hecky given a decent crack at it. But then the performances were so bad it needed change.

Would I have appointed Wilder if was the Prince would depend on who the other alternatives are but he's definitely been a good appointment and I think Wilder and United are just a great fit, I bet it brings out an extra 10% in Wilder at United but huge credit to Knilly and other coaching staff too.

All these 'i told you so' captain retrospects... don't forget where wilder was when he re-joined

Failed at Middlesborough and Watford with 2x distinctly average championship runnings, people were suggesting he was the next Phil Brown and he'd be best dropping down to L1/L2 to claw back some respect from the footballing world

If we're talking about comebacks... the biggest has been Chris Wilder's! i can't say i predicted it, but i'm buzzing and here for it

Over the summer Ahmedhodzic and Souza were worse than Hitler on here.

Superstars again now.

😍

Paul Coutts ?

Slight difference for me is that Coutts just looked a poor player then became a good one, we know Anel has the ability, he just lacked the application.

Plenty of us didn't think he was 'poor', but we knew he wasn't a good substitute left winger. The ability was always there to see, but he was a square peg needing a matching hole.

No surprise that Adkins used him badly, but Clough had seen him before at Derby and should have known better.

For all peoples opinions on this thread, and I'll offer mine before I get to my point.

I'm absolutely in the CW camp, always have been, I think for the Blades he's irreplaceable.
Souza and Anel I also think for us, are currently irreplaceable.

Now back to my point....The Premier League is literally different class and the undoubted difference between individuals performances last year and this. The PL will expose any weakness teams have and without revenue of the scale to compete, teams, players, and managers will again appear second rate.

Promotion and 5 bad games in, I'll guarantee the snipers will be out again looking for easy targets.

Why were they uncalled for?

It’s a forum for opinions, mine was that he shouldn’t have come back. I’m more than happy to admit I was wrong but let’s stop with the “I told you so” bollocks. And the clown emoji is uncalled for too.

He’s back, he’s done a far better job than I thought he would with relatively meagre resources and a backdrop of boardroom fuckwittery.

Hecky was given a decent crack at it. Sadly, he failed miserably

For me, Anel is back at a level he previously excelled at, whereas in the prem he looked out of his depth. Maybe things will be better and he will improve if we go up again.

Souza looked terrible most weeks, but he’s smashing it in the championship.

Things have improved no doubt about that

Just needs Ivo Grbic as the second coming of Peter Schmeichel when he comes back from his loan next season...
The first coming has yet to be seen, what we saw was some tall guy who had won some sort of prize to play with the pros
