He's a very fit player. Great engine. Great athlete for his size, and has the aggression to go with it. The way he chased back and won the ball in the last minute said a lot - distance, intensity, tackle. He belongs in the PL. If we get relegated he won't come down with us
But he'll be going for a very tidy profit (as sickening as that would be). I wonder if the Dutch national side will take notice of him this season.

We need to force feed him the ball. Couldn't get him on it for a lot of the second half, and we struggled.

I love him, some of the balls to archer first half were first class.
He's a killer. He'll often go for those direct, difficult balls but you always feel there's a good chance it'll come off

Hopefully when McAtee is in the team we'll be able to get him on the ball more

I'd also like to see him on the right more. Didn't happen much today but when it did it led to the first goal, from a good cross. It would waste his athleticism not to get him down that line more often

Double figures for goal contributions easy

I'd agree with the view generally he wasn't great first half. A few misplaced passes but even then I thought he made alot of great interceptions. His reading of the game to do this is brilliant and obviously played a big part in the goal. After that he was in fire.

Why Why Why could this not be posted on the Match thread>?... Doh.

He's not had much pre season so not surprised he's still rusty. I think if we can keep Hamer we'll push top two for sure.

Repeat after me.. he is not a winger, he is not a winger.

In fact if we don't land Rak-Sakyi I would be tempted to go 4-3-2-1 with Blaster, Hamer and Souza in the middle with O'hare and McCallum as the two number 10s

We will have players peaking at different times during the season. Off the pace at times in the first half, his passes were often long and wayward. Shortened things second half, looked better, neater and tidy.

He’ll do well this season with Souza, o’hare, arblaster

Atrocious performance. Up to the goal, the worst I've seen him and rightly digged out by Wilder in the post-match.

The goal made up for it, but he'll need to be much better than that. He doesn't look a natural athlete, so may be one like Fleck that takes time to get up to fitness.

The one positive is that he always tries to play forwards. When he gives it away, it's usually through ambition.
But tonight there was a lot of sluggishness and heavy touches.

One of the best midfielders in the division though and we need to keep hold.

Hamer has that most rare of qualities, guile. I doubt that too many other players could have acted so instinctively to that ball and know exactly what to do as it looped over the keeper into the net.

Was chucking 30-40 Yarders first half, second half shortened his range and was better.

As I said, he’ll peak later in the season, no stress. Just keep the ball better

That’s a typical Hamer game in many ways as he can be frustrating. Tries things, lots don’t come off but eventually he’s going to produce goal scoring moments through his quality.

As much as we are crying out for a number 10 next season, we are absolutely in need of a right footer in there - and we could do a lot worse than Coventry’s Gustavo Hamer.
Really talented lad, lovely ball player with a bit of that Dutch aggression to his game. Can get up and down the pitch and isn’t shy of a few goals.

Had played the deeper Norwood role but has more than enough ability to play either the right sided midfield role, or the right side of a 2 behind a 10 too.

With Norwood criminally out of sorts, Lunny thankfully on his bike and Sander likely to leave we have to look at alternatives. And taking teams best players is something we should be able to do next season.

If anyone’s seen Coventry this season you’ll know anything good they do tends to go through him, I firmly believe that could be the same story for us.
What a poster. And what a shout.

He was shite until he scored then fantastic.

It happens.

Let’s be honest he was absolutely terrible that first half. If he was a new signing this forum would have been in meltdown. Took his goal really well though and improved second half. That midfield with him Arblaster and O’Hare could be the best we’ve seen though. U T B

A credit to the club on the pitch and off it. Arguably our best player, and the celebration today showed what a class act he is as a bloke as well. If he stays for a few more seasons, I think many will have him down as one of their favourite players all time.
