There's no way he'd play for very long, but to stick him on the bench would give the crowd a much needed boost, as the midfield options look very poor otherwise.

He says in his interview he didn't get to Sheffield until last night anyway, so presumably he wasn't signed up in time.
 

Did a 12-hour shift yesterday, finished at 10 last night. Saw the "midnight" announcement. Stayed up, then couldn't sleep. And still buzzing for Gus! Great player, great signing! Sort up top and the club have pulled off wonders from what's been an awful couple of weeks ⚔️
 
They say a week's a long time in politics, but in the transfer window... fuck me. What a rollercoaster.

Hamer would have been near the top of my wishlist for this summer but I'd written him off because I never thought we would be able to land him - was sure clubs with deeper pockets would be in for him. Credit where it's due.
 
Outstanding signing by the club. Now it's time to fill forward positions with similar quality. As it stands Hamer is our only chance creator from midfield, we’ll be easy to defend against otherwise.

I imagine Osula and Traore going to love playing with this lad. A real through-ball specialist which will suit both strikers pace down to a tee.

Probably realised that we were the most likely destination for him to get first team football, obviously Brighton and Villa have a much better chance of staying up than we do but there's a lot of competition in those squads whereas in our squad there isn't as much competition for places.

Yeah it’s certainly a consideration as he’ll walk straight into our side.

Before you start praising them, remember that - regardless of who we have signed - they still ultimately sold both players at a ridiculous point... Days before kick off. Had this happened weeks ago I strongly believe there wouldn't have been such a massive collective outburst.

Yes signing Hamer and Souza has given us a huge boost, and galvanised the fan base and club, we wouldn't have needed galvanising in the first place if everything had been done in sensible time frames.

That said, very pleased with the two recent signings!

Defense looks solid, with enough cover. We need a creative attacking mid (hopefully Archer) and a Striker (Akpom by the looks of things).

I think Akpom seems to be gathering the most momentum with regards to likelihood of transfer, leaving us needing the midfielder. Any one from Archer, Doyle or O'Brien in that order. Not hugely keen on O'Brien but if getting Akpom means settling for him, I'd probably roll with that.

Another possibility is getting a Palmer/Doyle/Macca on loan. I feel with Vinnie as our enforcer the creative midfielders will be able to shine.

Let's see where we are next week, if we can somehow pinch 3 pts here, or even a draw I'll go into the next week a happy, optimistic blade.

I agree the timing of the sales wasn’t great but to be fair to the club they can only sell a player once an acceptable offer has been received. It sounded like Burnley came in for Berge quite late and Marseille were playing silly bollocks for ages over Ndiaye
