Anyone care to explain the kit clash rules. On Tuesday Wrexham were wearing black shorts as were we. How come they didnt wear yellow or whatever colour is their alternate shorts colour?

The colour of shirt and socks are the ones relevant to the ref making tight decisions.
I agree it would be better to have different coloured shorts as well.

I wondered whether there were different rules for different competitions that's all. Am sure PL that everything has to be a contrast shirts, shorts and socks. Thought EFL was the same. Hence the post.

In olden times, when I were a lad it was no clash of shirts but the keepers had to wear a different colour. So if you look back in the early 70's at team photos our 'keeper wore green but still black shorts. You will also remember the derbies versus the other lot where the only difference was the shirt colour us in red stripes and them in blue stripes (and before that their experiment with Arsenal style but blue). International goalies wore yellow and of course refs wore black.

Then it changed with the shorts too and keepers had a fashion explosion. I wondered whether it was because of Sky or something putting pressure on the football institutions and of course more kit choices more dosh to the clubs and kit manufacturers.

Isn't there a famous bit of snooker commentary which goes along the line of..

"... And for those watching in black and white, the red is nestled just behind the pink." 😆
Yes. I remember that. I also remember arguing with a flatmate in 1975 as to whether we should fork out for a rental colour tv. I won and being a bit of a luddite we had a black and white one :D

I couldn't make out who was who watching on phone sometimes. I'm not colour blind but it was a strange effect .
There's a thread on it, have a look. Big problem for a lot of people. 8% of men have some colour blindness (and most refs)
