Well this post has bit me in the rectum. Loan, save 20+million. I think a loan would've been a better option but Wilder doesn't, and never will, listen to me. Still, this season ......he's not getting injured and will repay all those millions. As if!!
Liverpool knew what they were doing and refused a loan. He came on today and was his usual shite

Great to see him back out on the grass last night. Anything we can get out of him is a bonus at this stage.

He must've been through hell with the injuries, yet always at our games cheering the lads on and multiple managers have said how good he is for dressing room.

Seems a great kid and one worth getting behind. We'll need all the help we can get at the top of the pitch, so here's hoping he can stay fit and contribute in rotation.

We need alot better than Brewster. Ideally he won't be in the squad by the end of the window.

Nobody's going to sign him from us with his track record on fitness.
We certainly can't and shouldn't rely on him to contribute anything, but it's unhelpful to be critical. He's a talented lad who might be able to help us. Not much else to it.

When I say squad I mean I hope we make signings so that Brewster is not involved in the match day squad, I know nobody will sign him (permanently at least). I don't think he is talented, I think he is probably our worst value for money transfer ever. Having said that, obviously if he plays we have to support him and hope for the best.

I would love for him to keep fit and kick on, not sure why nobody deserves it more though.
For everything he’s been through, injuries, set backs over a number of years. Can’t think of anyone else that I want to succeed more than Brewster.

Of course that’s very subjective.

Not sure why your post was negative about wanting him to be out of the squad. But I guess we’re all different

Sounds like you’d rather not support him 😂

I just really don't rate him and think it will be important for us to sign players to compete with Moore and cover when needed. Nothing personal about him.

I still think a loan with a recall would be the best option for club and player

You don't get the golden boot in an England juniors World Cup winning team and score 10 in 20 on loan in the Championship at 18 years old without talent.
Injuries have robbed him of his career.

He’s hardly had a run of games injury free since that first few games during covid when we were terrible and he was thrown in. So you’re right on one thing that he’s been poor value… but that’s the same for any player that gets so many injuries or long term injuries

Given his record I think the people that know him the best are probably the people to manage him now. It is the last chance saloon for him. He needs to remain injury free in a pressure free environment.

I think we’ve tried bringing him in too quickly previously, not necessarily a mistake by the medical team but an under estimation of how brittle he was.

Let’s hope he gets a run injury free

He's still young enough to turn it around. But it feels like it's now or never for him. He'll be 25 at the end of the season.

Without doing a tonne of research here I am sure there is heaps of players who looked good at youth level who went on to do nothing in the game. Obviously injuries have played a big part, along with very difficult circumstances for any striker (with how we were playing often). Having said that imo I've never seen anything from him that made me think he would make it here.

Will have to agree to disagree with you and SwissBlade here I think although agree with you both that I hope he gets an injury free run and smashes some goals in for us this season.

I'll never write him off, but his injury record and performances throughout his time with us have not been worth the money we paid for him. I really home it comes good for the lad and if Wilder thinks he's worth sticking on the pitch then I'll back him

Test will be if, and it’s a big if, he stays fit, scores 10+ goals and we offer him a new contract….

Given the support he’s received from the club through a injury prone 5years, does he feel a debt and sign, or does he get lured by a signing on fee and different club?

Hope he has a great season and we get to find out

Can you imagine if he has a good season and then fucks us off and becomes the pantomime villain?! 🤣 Would be funny at least.

For him and his agent that is probably his greatest concern. He could be out of contract at the age of 25 when aged 20 he was leaving Liverpool with potentially the world at his feet. Hopefully he can do enough and prove himself fit, he has shown rare glimpses of quality over the years. Not enough to justify the price tag. If he scores 8+ and is available for 80% of games probably worth having a punt at trying a cheeky offer and renegotiating a lower wage.

Yep, if he stays fit I would definitely test his loyalty and offer him a new contract before other clubs get the opportunity to contact him. Nothing to lose really. At worst he's a talented backup option. And he might appreciate the offer and the financial security.

I imagine he’s already financially secure.

Basham was singing his praises last night and saying how he's different to all the other strikers as he will shoot on sight and shoot early. This is something we miss, as shown yesterday when players kept taking an extra touch in good shooting positions before wasting a great opportunity (Arblaster/Brooks take note). When he came on the game had all but petered out. With Hamer, Brooks off and O'Hare later coming off there was literally no supply for him. So it's hard to judge him yesterday really.

I genuinely think with a run of games he'll come good and score a fair few, as he does shoot early, and with venom too, none of this pass it into the net bollocks.
