CONFIRMED Souza off!?

I think CW would ideally like to keep Souza - he's praised his attitude recently, and says they've cleared the air.
It's been reported that we need to raise £20m this year to offset decreased income (aside from selling Archer back to Villa).
So far, through sales, we've brought in.....
£1.5m Jebbo, £10m Osula, £5m Bogle (initial payments, guessing)
And so far we've spent (or will have).....
£1.5m Moore, £3m Burrows, £3m Cooper, £3m loan fees, £2m signing on fees (again, guessing)
So that's £16.5m in, £12.5m out......leaving us approx. £4m in credit.
That's £16m short of what we need to bring in to cover the drop in income.
Basically, I reckon if the takeover doesn't go through by the end of the window we'll sell Vini to cover the shortfall.
If the takeover happens soon the new owners will cover it and we won't need to sell him.
£3.8m for Benie

We've brought in over £25m: Osula £15m, Bogle £5m, Traoré £4m, Jebbison £1.5m

and spent a fair bit less: £3m Burrows, £500k Moore plus whatever it is in loan fees (signing on fees will be paid over the length of the contracts).

We're £20m up and we needed £15m. That gives us the space to get Rak-Sakyi and hopefully Cooper.

Wonder if someone like Grimes or McLean would be more suitable for the position Souza plays.

Not sure how valid the links were earlier in the window but surely we'd be able to get at least one of them with a part of the potential Souza money.

Armstrong in my opinion would be better playing further forward, possibly as competition for that number 10 position.
Think the Grimes deal depended on the takeover happening before the window shuts and that seems highly unlikely now.

I remember reading something like that, does make me wonder if we could pull it off if we sold Souza for a decent fee, probably wishful thinking though.

Only £10m up-front for Osula and Moore cost about £1.5-2m.

Straight swap for the Newark Dog Nonce.

We can stick him in the stocks every home game and do all manner of humiliating entertainment pieces.

Even bring Oli McB back one week for a 'special'

I disagree. We rejected Newcastle’s first bid, widely reported at £10m so I’m confident that we have got more; and the Moore deal was “worth up to £2m”.

Maybe.
But it was very widely reported as £10m rising to £15m. I hope you're right.

We like to keep the public narrative that we’re skint. We did the same with Brooks, Ndiaye, Berge and Ramsdale. Not that any of it matters in the greater scheme of things

Sky reported Osula Deal was a initial £15 million so does that mean plus add ons

I have a feeling he will stay at least until January more based in the timing
If we are to believe that the takeover only needs EFL approval, I'd assume no further big decisions will be taken by PA during that time .
If the new owners take control before the end of the window , selling a player straight away will invite the " asset strippers" tag and bring out the conspiracy theorists .
If PA stays I think vini will be sacrificed .
Then again after this summer nothing would surprise me .

I think it would be a bad decision to let him go so late in the window. Happy for him to go in Jan when we have time to replace him but not now. Probably the same with Anel. Keep them around until Jan and then see what offers come in.

Souza and Anel probably need the start of the season to show they're not as shit as they were made to look in the terrible showing of last season, bump up their value a bit

Errr what about Parachute payments ?

Significantly less than premier league money

With some many high wages gone and a smaller squad perhaps we don't NEED the big sale now?

We are in a great financial position as a club

Such a great position that the owner doesn't have to put a penny in and the club can be self self-funding whilst we have parachute payments

We haven't spent a penny we are ina profit net transfer wise

I'm not 100% sure, but YorkBlade seemed to agree that CityGroup have a 40% sell-on clause with Souza, so any fee we get for him might not be utilisable on future transfers.

I suspect we are in a dire financial position - which is why PA is selling - he hasn't got a pot large enough to run a professional football team.
"Great financial position" - The Macquarie loans against future parachute payments would suggest otherwise.

The Macquarie loans aren't as big of a thing as people are making out.

We aren't getting a "loan", we are just forfeiting some of OUR money to be able to use OUR money when we need it, not when it comes in. We aren't borrowing, we are just releasing the funds early.

That is what a loan is. Borrowing money to be paid back on receipt of future income.
