So i'm like you fellow Blades and gutted at how poor we are so far, however, if we were in Feb and mid table and lost 5 in a row, many folks would bat an eye lid? Sometimes things take time, we fans are never the most patient people. How long will we give Weirs replacement? 8-10 games? What if things don't change then? Sack him as well?

We're not going up this season but maybe we could really begin the start of something great with the new owners now in. They said on the football league show that with the squad we have we are underperforming, and I agree. There's some real potential in the squad with the likes of Brandy, Baxter, Cuvelier, Maguire, King, Long and I don't think we've heard the last from Taylor and Murphy.

Good post fella, but it's the same answer. We can't give him much longer, given the magnitude of the job that will be left for the next man. We need to demonstrate progress in the next 4 matches.

I agree there's potential in the squad, and there's a lot right at the club. But Weir has to demonstrate he can take advantage of that. He has no track record, it's the here and now that counts.

The new investors will be looking to see progress on the pitch & points on the board.

Or they will simply sack him & get their own man in.

I believe Weir has got 2 games left to turn it round if he thinks he's got more he's deluded.

Out of the list of players you've mentioned Brandy, Baxter will come through, Taylor just not up to it, Cuv needs leaving on the bench

at the moment he looks a little boy in a mans game, Murphy needs to be tried in twin striking role maybe but he running out of time.
King, hope there's one last flurry of goals, has he got the desire.
Long,McGuire are hardcore

Have we heard anything from them yet?

If we were in mid table in Feb, and lost 5 on the trot, that would rather imply that prior to that run of game we scored some goals, won some games etc etc

So far we have seen none of that, and no evidence (Notts County, 10 men, worst team in division aside) that Weir can get us playing any better than we are now.

THAT is the difference.

Absolutely right.

It's all very well having a long term strategy, but you can't ignore the short and medium term otherwise you'll never get a chance to implement what might be a very successful in time. One point out of the last 21 is a touch more than "disappointing" as DW might say, it points to an inability to do the job he's been employed to do.

Agreed.

1 point out of 21 doesn`t show an inability to do the job per se. I imagine many very good managers have had such a run of games.

The issue is its actually 4 points from 24, and this is the only evidence we have of Wier performance.

OK, so that is a low sample size, and it may be that we have been chronically unlucky, so lets look at teh actual performances rather than the results.

But they aren't any good either.

fair enough, i'm not denying we are dire at the mo, and the performances have been worrying. tho we were much better against Preston and did well for a half against Rotherham and should have beaten MK dons. we need to improve and fast, but i'm not sure sacking the manager this early will do it. Of course I don't want us to get relegated though and maybe Weir isn't a good manager. I just wonder how much time a new manager would get?

Or perhaps you meant "I just wonder how much time a new manager who keeps losing would get?"

In the memorable 2002-3 season we lost 4 league games in a row around that time of year. We were in a play off spot, had been in the league cup semi final, and had an FA cup quarter final tie against Leeds to look forward to. But on the old BU forum there were still a number of posters demanding that Warnock be sacked.
