Ear Defenders? More like a virtual reality headset. And Grbic.
How we ended up with him I'll never know. Stevie Wonder must have scouted him, and have been wearing ear defenders when he watched the games.

Geordie back in peace.
Pretty zen about this transfer to be honest. £10m (+ add ons) for a young striker isn't going to dramatically impact what we can spend this window and it provides some much needed depth up front. We only had perma-crock Wilson as back up to Isak and ended up having to play Gordon up front in some fixtures.
Osula provides a young backup striker with potential to grow, and depending on the length of his contract, it'll only be £2-3m a year of our PSR wriggle room. Leaving plenty to address our bigger problems.
I bet we will have a sell on clause, but if he reaches his potential Newcastle have the clout to never let him go. Wouldn't get your hopes up of a big money move awayDo we have a sell-on clause? Would be fairly happy with the price if so. Good luck to him, imagine he's getting paid much more at Newcastle.

Players have a different values , some valuable in what they offer to the club , some in monetary terms . They sit on the balance sheet as an asset with a value alongside thier name . Osula's asset value in those terms will be very low , the sale may represent 10 times his actual value in the books.
Not disputing his value as a player , what he could bring to the team etc but in financial terms were probably selling him for a far greater sum than his asset value not far less. .
Well i did not think for a moment it was possible i was trying to compare the fees and what you can get for the money and who was the best value for the money . No you are correct there was no chance but if the blades were in a lot better position than they are in now it could have been on .It was never really an option to bring I'm BBD as we are no longer in the PL. He and his agent knew he could get a contract with someone at a club at the top table. They were right. If you just look simplistically at the fees for Osula and BBD, yes you can say we should have at least used the Osula money to bring in BBD.... but the lad didn't want to sign for us as we aren't in the PL. Only if it was late in the transfer window and no one had been in for him (I.e Southampton) would we have had a chance. That's the reality of the situation.
I agree mate but we need options now we only have to strikers with league experience and one of those have a season ticket sick note.I don't think BBD and Osula are comparable right now. Osula's ceiling is way higher than BBD and as much as I liked BBD he'll likely never be more than bottom half PL standard.
Newcastle are paying for potential and not a lot else right now. I genuinely feel he has everything to be a top end PL player in 3 or 4 years time.
Can't disagree, desperate for another forwardI agree mate but we need options now we only have to strikers with league experience and one of those have a season ticket sick note.
He's been named on the bench for 1 or 2 of the friendlies, but (haven't watched them) don't think he's got on the pitch. What's happened to Hackford? Not noticed him pre-season - guessing he is injured again? Seems like the injuries have really blocked his progression and will probably prevent him from having a good career in the game.
No, not called Keith.Imagine being in a position where £15m doesn't dramatically affect what you spend in a window and you have plenty to address your bigger problems (like what you're gonna piss the rest of your money on)
Not having a go The Fish (not called Keith are you?) just ripping into the difference in financial situations between 2 clubs that were in the same league last season
Bit of a Long Distance RunaroundNo, not called Keith.
It does stink, but that's the nature of football these days I guess. Clubs coming up from the Championship are at such a disadvantage, they're up against it from the off. If they survive they're at risk of losing the players who kept them up.
Going only off stats, Osula doesn't look the finished article by a long shot. How was he in the U21s?
Louis Marsh?I'll be sorry to see him go. We all see things differently, and for me, it was always "if we need to sell one of Jebbo or Osula, sell Jebbo", because Osula (to me) has more in his locker and more potential.
Anyone who was at Stoke, away, when he came on for the last 10 minutes, could see how he can shake things up at Championship level. Within minutes, the Stoke defenders were shitting bricks every time he got the ball and ran at them, shouldering them off the ball like rag dolls.
I genuinely think this could have been his break out season, and then (if needed) a big sale next summer.
With Lankshear, Jebbison and now, Osula, leaving our ranks, I think that is the last of our youth set up strikers who scored for fun, on their progression in football.
how much could we get for himLouis Marsh?
He scored plenty in the youth teams and has scored in pre-season so I think he’s done enough to be on the bench this year. He’ll be next off the production line followed by One.how much could we get for him![]()
I was hoping he MIGHT develop into the new Deano, but that's an excellent deal for us at this stage of his development if true. Gives Wilder an excellent opportunity to squad build in the way he did after we sold Brooks (IF he's given the funds of course!)
Roy does 'em for all the clubs. He's got the PL and EFL exclusive franchises. Was just looking for any updates on the transfer fee, but noticed we've been Roy-ed.

Yeah so when we disclose we've sold him for 15 + 5 all the clubs we want to buy from add 20% to their selling price. Some of you need to get over yourselves. If you're so pissed off get in the carpark with your shoes off, what is moaning about it on an unofficial fans forum going to do?This is one instance where the club should publish details of the fee.
15 + 5 is a v good deal and we can all see why he had to be sold for that figure.
10 + 5 is questionable
But to say that the fee is undisclosed makes Us all think we only got the 10 + 5 and we now need confidence in the way the club is being run and the reasoning behind some of the decisions s so many seem to be short term panics with no strategy
