A few things have been bugging me about this so called investment that to me don't quite ring true and would like other people's opinions on this.

Firstly the bit about the investment been made available prior to the deadline but didn't announce as clubs will inflate their prices, that has got to be absolute bollocks. What is going to happen come next transfer window? Are we hoping that other clubs will suddenly 'forget'?

Also Mcabe must have had wind of this prior to August so why didn't we use this to our advantage when recruiting our manager?

If money was available why didn't we use this to keep Mcdonald who Weir had spent all summer building a team around?

And I guess the most important is why when we are so shot shy wasn't the window used to sign a striker, I don't just mean the last week of the season, I mean all summer?

One thing is for certain, the club is a proper shambles at the minute and its hard to see any positives. I suppose a cynic would suggest the 'investment' isn't going to be forthcoming.

totally agree.. maybe i'm cynical but i dont' buy into this at all.. joins the club the day after the transfer window?? give me a break

Or maybe he has seen a deal to add an English football club with a decent infrastructure to his global investment portfolio on the cheap.

If there is no investment how could we afford to sign Baxter and Cuvellier ?
We did try and keep McDonald
A striker is needed but so are an attacking full back and a proper winger to create the chances for that said striker

As Pedro says, I highly doubt we would have been able to bring in Baxter and Cuvelier without new investment.

Why not we got rid of Robson, Kitson, Cresswell etc and they would have all been on high wages ?

I didnt mean wages alone these players actually commanded a transfer fee, we also offered McDonald a substantial wage increase to stay.
Do you really think that a respected businessman such as Prince Abdullah would come out and say he was investing millions into a club and not actually do it, his reputation would be severely damaged if he didnt deliver.
We are not talking Lee Strafford, Geoff Sheard or Samantha Hashimi here

During the manager recruitment process Julian Winter said something along the lines of 'the days of a benefactor funding the club are no more, we have to be sustainable, use the academy players etc.'

If the Saudi investment has been in the planning since January (okay it wasn't confirmed until last week) then why state the above? Unless of course it's a load of bollocks and the benefactor isn't investing very much, we do have to be sustainable, use academy players etc.

Are we trying to find another thing to complain about here?

Surely issues with manager are enough right now?

No just questions that in my mind haven't been answered. Never heard anything as ridiculous as 'we kept it secret' line.

If Weir insists on playing this way then we need 2 fullbacks, 2 more wingers & a good target man.
thats 5 players. I cannot see us getting those any time soon.

So when you buy a house, you walk around shouting at the top of your voice what your budget is?

No declaring the takeover seems commercially sensible to me, in fact it would be negligent to declare it IMHO particularly if we're negotiating with clubs.

I agree with ls in fact I posted as much on the day the investment was announced , early indications dont fill me with optimism we are going to see much change to the playing staff
Hope im wrong

The budget has also been massively reduced since last season to comply with FFP. I doubt those players were let go to make way for more, they were probably let go because we had to.

So what's going to happen in January?

I was also wondering something:

The prince has paid a quid for half of a medium sized third division club with a decent set up and no debt. What does that make his half worth if some other party thought the club was worth buying? Could he now sell his half for £X million and go back to Saudi laughing his cock off or do the terms of the deal mean he has to invest a certain amount or reach a specified position? Unless he's really passionate about this project and really cares about the club, there doesn't seem to be a way he can lose. Unless he loses his quid.
