The counter argument would be that if SUFC actually valued him that highly (which is obviously somewhat down to the length of the registration at the time) then they would surely be playing him more than they actually did

I’m not sure the previous offers we rejected will be of any relevance. I was under the impression compensation is intended to cover the expense incurred developing youth players who then leave when their contract expires. Hence when a player joins at an older age, as Jebbo did, the compensation would be lower than if he had played all the way through the various age groups.
