Season card arrival

A few years ago. left a phone in a taxi when I was pissed in London. I could track it to the location in the taxi the next day when I realised. Called the taxi company but it must’ve been passed on.

Caught train home, using ticket on email on iPad. Went to Apple Store in Meadowhell and Vodafone for new sim. Within 24 hours I had everything back on new phone, could’ve been less if I’d done it in London
If you can be bothered ffffg technology!

I get that some people won’t want to use it and no issue with that.

But I don’t know anyone that doesn’t have a phone and the internet on their phone. So I’d say that a huge percentage of our fanbase already has the technology.

In addition, every season ticket holder has used the electronic entry system at the turnstiles

So we have:
1. Technology
2. Know how to access the ground with card

All that will change, as per my understanding is that the cards are being replaced by phone. It seems that connecting the two is the problem

The phone may need to install “something” in order for it to work, but the instructions will no doubt be simple to install, so once done it shouldn’t be an issue at all.

So if you can’t be bothered with that, no dramas.

Just had this email concerning season tickets

Me too.

Hopefully most haven't chucked out their season ticket cards if they're in the same seat and band.

Not great messaging from the off as this thread shows.
It’s exactly what I was told when I renewed by phone, to be fair.

I think the lower management at the lane are so amateur it's unbelievable .and it's a recurring thing

Best way to break a phone screen? Offer it up to the reader at the turnstile, and then drop it! 🤦
I've yet to break a paper ticket 👍

Will the stewards on KOP be asking to see our phones or can we stand where we want again..

Why not just reactivate our existing season card, or issue new ones to newcomers a well as phone ones for those who want to use this entry device

Whilst in any retail unit views are subjective I feel obliged to say that in all my dealings with the ticket office over many years they have always been friendly, helpful and efficient.

Will probably be the same as adding any other card or ticket to your google or apple wallet, probably just an email with a big button to "add to wallet" and you're done.

And, indeed, the situation for season ticket holders for the coming season is now clear ( many weeks in advance of the first game), and the solution through which it has been delivered is efficient and sensible.
Nothing to complain about really.

Why is the assumption that if you lost battery or your phone you couldn’t get in? If you turn up on matchday without your season ticket you can still go to the ticket office and they’ll print you one out. How is this any different?

The mutters and grumbles about this move to a cheaper, more modern approach already in place in many examples within the industry is truly baffling me.

Do not be baffled by the difficulties faced by people and technology change.
As I approach 80 I find that situations which were routine to me 5 years ago are a little more challenging now. If I find it more comfortable to have a card than use a smartphone then that is a choice that the club have given me.
If in a year or so there is some other format to use then I will have to cope !!

I agree with what you say - and I’m in the same boat is some respects. Luckily, the club have recognised this up front, and has given us all the option of choosing the method that works best for us individually. I’m sure that they will continue in this vein moving forwards.

It’s not the challenge of change, that I understood, its the outrage that we saw when it was first communicated. Obviously they weren’t going to make everyone comply and there would be an alternate. Just as there is an alternate now if you lose/forget your card. Folk initially getting on their high horse principally because we’d dared changed something was daft. This obviously going to be a cheaper option so should be implemented where it can.

It's as if the club were waiting for your post.

As you have advised us that you do not have access to a smartphone, below is an update regarding your 24/25 season card.

If you have not moved into a new price band or your seat has not changed, your existing card has now been reactivated.

For those supporters who are new season ticket holders, have moved seats or changed price categories, a new card is on its way.
