this wheres the money gone crap , it rears its head now and then
where did all wednesdays money go
where did a;; forests money go
where did all southamptons money go
where did all leeds money go
the list goes on , you buy players like Fathi for 1 , 5 million pay large wages get nowt back
your wage bill goes from 8 million a season to 4 seasons where its 25 22 19 and 17 million with only 9 million income , in each season thats 31 million lost,
insurance police costs and swinging PAYE patments
several millions on agents fees
nett spend by united , from the day mccabe took over is 12.5 million on sales against buys , which roughly works out a million a year so theres not actually a lot of money to pocket as some put it
I'm not saying you're wrong but where do you numbers come from?
Even if your numbers are correct we need to take account of:
Profits from a season in Premiership - our claim against WHU was based on an estimated net income of £30m
Two lots of parachute payments (£15m per year?)
£18m from WHU (not received in full but included in our balance sheet)
Gate receipts in Premiership in the top 6 or 7?
Gate receipts in Championship - top 1 or 2
Gate receipts in Div 1 - top
There is strong suspicion that the losses on McCabes failed ventures - property, buying foreign clubs have all been deposited in the football side of the business and then assets shorne of debt transferred to the property side of the business. Perfectly legitimate - but in no way doe sit make McCabe the great benefactor we are repeatedly told he is.
Then there is the question of wehat McCabe has got for his investment (however big or small it has been) - he's certainly got the real estate which must be worth a good few million and he's had very healthy interest payments on his loans.
McCabe has studiously avoided publishing any meaningful information on the income and costs of the football club so much of the above - including your numbers is only speculation.
However, one thing is absolutely clear McCabe makes all the big decisions. Therefore, credit where credit is due our rise to the Premiership was largely down to him. However, our fall since then and the massive debt we have run up is by the same token down to him and his appalling decisions - there is no-one else to blame.
