It’s difficult to judge any of our GKs based on this season, our makeshift defence with constant changes has not allowed any GK to build any kind of understanding with the players in front of him

I think we do have to rebuild from the back, and get some stability at the back instead of conceding over 100 goals

Each to their own, I get what you’re saying however in my view I would not be going in to the season with Davies as my number 1, even if we have to consoldate, as a back up maybe but I think it’s the most important position on the pitch it assures the back 4/5 and can build upwards. Davies for me a decent shot stopper but a poor man’s Wes no where near good enough with his feet either.

I too would prefer a better first choice than Davies. However there are so many places to fill that it will take three windows to achieve what is needed and perhaps this window is not the one for the keeping position.
That said no doubt the first appointment will be a new keeper !!!!!

Keeper no.1 for me, all our better sides have had good keepers, you pay money to get a striker to score goals pay big for someone to keep them out, think it’s been a priority position since Henderson left tbh.

Davies is fine as a number two. He'll barely play anyway. He was poor against Wrexham in the cup games and looked like a shambles, but he is better than people think.

I know it's hard to judge but when he's played for the development team he looked calm, composed, had good organisation skills and was a solid, reliable keeper. Faxon is a good keeper in the making and his distribution is absolute first class, and he's got bags of potential, but in comparison Davies was leagues above him in standard and made it look easy.

He wouldn't be my choice for number one, but I'd happily keep him as number two over Ivo Garbage.

Absolutely.

Wes came back in and conceded a lot of goals with very few being his fault and he kept many of the scorelines down with some unreal saves. Despite the results and scores he did a competent and reliable job.

I wouldn't even trust Grbic to post a letter through my door.

Davies is pants. So bad that when Wes lost his head and Grbic looked like he’d won a competition, we still didn’t turn to Davies.

I’ve read on here on several occasions that it should be relatively easy to recruit a far better goalkeeper than Wes has been for us .

Whilst I admire the optimism of those posters , I’m far from convinced that this is the case and would be more than happy if we start next season with someone who is at least equally competent , but have little confidence that this will be the case.
