He’s 34.

I often thought he might join us like his Dad.

But we are in the process of moving on Norwood and have done the same with Fleck.

I’m intrigued in the thinking of signing a player older than both!

In contrast to Norwood who has had plenty of involvement albeit reduced recently, Cork hasn’t started a single game though he did manage 40+ the prior season.

I’d be more enthused with Leonards than Corks of this world but then again, two of the better players over my time watching United were Stuart McCall and Gordon Cowans and they were both 38 when they were playing for us!

Let’s see what the squad is like come kick off.

Experienced, semi Bladey, defensively competent, cover for Arblaster's role. Wouldn't complain

Not sure it makes sense. A steady Eddie sort of midfielder who's in the latter years of his career - like Norwood - who we've just released. I think he'd likely want a 2 or 3 year contract at least to see out the end of his career. But it would only make sense for us to offer him a 1 year contract as he would be surplus if we go up. However, if he would agree to a 1 year contract then I think he would be a sensible temporary addition for a backup/rotational role. With our injury record, you can never have too many midfielders.

No surprise if true….we have no money until we sell ….so only be frees and loans until then. Sadly this is the level we are at now as the Prince runs us to balance the books.

That's. the only way forward champs " wait &see
Wilder has a budget ! If Cork is on his list he will have a roll for him.Never has been a pacey player just like his dad ! Who was a great pro,at 34 he will only get a 1 year deal so what's to lose With this deal if Wilder thinks he can do a job. We need some pace and legs he won't supply that of course

Any such deal is going to be heavily caveated by the wage demands.

His trajectory is a bit like Norwoods. Starter in the prior year and then hardly played this year.

Honestly, it’s underwhelming . But until you see the full picture you don’t know what role he will play. Maybe it’s just to give Arblaster some protection and/or a rest and he doesn’t have big wages and he has leadership.

Totally different player to Norwood though and has spent 12 of the last 13 seasons in the Premier League.

I actually think he would be ideal as the third man in midfield with Hamer and Blaster providing he hasn't dropped off an Enda Stevens style cliff.

Proper leader too and a lot of Burnley fans are saying he should have featured more this season after being fantastic in the promotion season.

Local paper says they’re “gutted” that he’s leaving.

I was thinking signing the Icelandic lad they released Gudmundson? would be decent business, less so Cork but I don't know as much on him.

Was involved in every game for Burnley in the promotion season.....but was involved in just four Prem games this season the last game he played was the "bye bye" game against Forest on Sunday.

Must be chomping on the bit to be involved fully again somewhere.

Now older than his dad when this photo was taken.

Now delivers for Sainsbury's (Alan not Jack!). I was a little surprised when he turned up at my door! But then he probably wasn't expecting to meet a Blade in darkest West Sussex!!! He was happy to have a chat.

Heading your way this weekend - making my debut at Goodwood races. Very excited. Weather looks decent anorl.

Just spoke to a Burnley season ticket holder who doesn't like Kompany. He said Cork is a popular hard man in the middle, gets booked a lot. Can also play at centre back and right back. He is disappointed that Burnley are releasing him and Gudmundsson. Dyche would have kept them if he was still at Burnley. He is worried that Taylor, Rodriguez and Brownhills may leave Burnley too

So we are not going for promotion next season, obviously not because we are after the cast offs of the favourites for promotion who decide he's not good enough for them but we think at 35 he will be good enough for us.
Where is Rifleman when you bloody need him to pour poo poo on this.
This is surely a wind up 34 😂😂

It's not exciting signing someone at 34 but Stuart McCall was 37 when we signed him and that turned out well; until Warnock signed Mark Ranking!
