Highly rated rb/cb from Arsenal, refusing new contract 19 year old ,England U20 could be signed just for compensation.
Made gunners bench a good few times this season.Cant be much worse than what we've got !

Yeh but wasn't Trusty from Arsenal ?

And why would this lad refuse a contract with an elite club ?

Not sure if Arsenal would allow their young players to go out on loan if they refuse to sign the new contract they have offered

I suggested this guy on the "ones to watch" thread.

Not all footballers are mercenaries only in it for the money. He's out of contract and apparently has refused to sign a new contract because he wants first team football. That for me is exactly the kind of person I would want at United.

Trusty was one of the most highly rated defenders in the championship last season which is why signing him made sense at the time. He hasnt been good this season buy history shows he can be a very good championship defender.

He's out of contract with no option for another year so there wouldn't be any need for a loan. Only snag could be the amount of compensation we'd have to pay

No..he's out of contract so can sign for who he wants, just some compensation to be paid, which I wouldn't expect to be mega,as he was with Tottenham originally.

If he was at Arsenal Academy for long enough then they hold his registration until he is 24, the compensation will be huge coming from Category 1 Academy

The fact Trusty might be a good performer at that level just shows the gulf between the two divisions.

It makes it all the more remarkable we finished 9th with plenty of back ups who were league one at best.

Not necessarily. Whilst this can be the case it all depends on what compensation the clubs can agree on. If no agreement can be made then it goes to tribunal and that's when it can get expensive. But more often than not there's a bit of negotiating room. For example the "selling" club may forego a sizable initial fee for a larger sell on percentage.

Did Spurs release his registration at 16?
Not sure what happened with Spurs to be honest looks like it might’ve been a bit of a bodge / work around. I’m not sure what age he left spurs I’d imagine 14/15 because he wouldn’t want to take too long out of the system he then didn’t sign with anyone and Arsenal picked him up at 16. Seems like a bit of a fiddle to me to get round registration rules.
