Foreman's birthdate is 15.02.75. On the 9th of August 1994 he came on as a sub for United in a pre season friendly at Hillsborough, replacing Kevin Gage 5 minutes before full time. He was on the pitch as Bobby Davison got the 3-2 winner just before full time. The crowd was almost 14,000.Oh I'm coming back alright mate!!
And with zero negative responses about my choice of football club I may even stick around!
I didn't expect this message to be met with so many responses, a very knowledgable group.
Matthew Foreman is indeed the answer I was after (appreciate my clues may have been applicable to other players of the time).
Nicely done!
Foreman had a good summer in 1994, also playing for our U19s in a tournament in Chateauroux. In the first game he got the only goal in a 1-0 win over the hosts St Christophe. He then scored a hat trick against Cannes in a 4-0 win. A 0-1 defeat against a Czeck side meant nothing, as United qualified to the knock out stages. In the semi final Foreman got another as United beat Metz 2-0. In the final United played the same Czeck team that beat them in the group stages. It ended 1-1, with United winning the penalty shootout, with Foreman among United's scorers.
In the anglo-italian cup he played 22 minutes, replacing Ross Davison, against Udinese, and the full game in the away win at Piacenza.
