Worked well with a director of football.

Herein lies the problem.

We need one and have done for years but the Prince won't get one, because Wilder refuses to work with one because he thinks the sun shines out of his own arse when it comes to recruitment due to what he did 6 years ago.

Good look Hoyland, you're going to need it working for this Mickey Mouse operation.

"Hey Steve, it's Jamie. I've found a 20 year old, 6'0 tall winger from Germany who's rapid, has an eye for goal and has a fair bit of league experience already. He's only on 10k per week and he's out of contract next summer and looking for a move to England. The fee will only be £2mil and his agent is keen to talk."

"Hi Jamie, I hear what you're saying but we've found 4 players for £100k each in the Slovakian third division who are only on £2k per week. Keep looking though. Good work."

Hit and miss last few years

For every Docoure there’s an Alli

They seem to have 1 big transfer a season, which would say have been successful, but then struggle with the mid range to lower end which is where we will be shopping.

That said he can’t be any worse so give lad a chance eh?

Looking through that list most of the best signings were free, so he'll fit in well at Bramall Lane.

What a pointless little beef you’ve got.

I’ve not once said he’s shit or criticised his credentials. I would just like the club to cast a wider net and think beyond bladeyness sometimes, its not does us much favours to date. He might be great, but i wouldn’t know which i’ve openly stated. Only thing on his CV i’ve seen is Everton which isn’t a great advert for recruitment but i don’t know how much influence he had there.

Perhaps your knowledge & wisdom can give more insight as you are very angry & critical of others who pass an opinion (a very mild one) on a forum.
Exactly, you’ve no idea about him nor his experience or history but have a pop at it anyway and suggest we need to look elsewhere. Well done!

What an interesting thread. Based on rumour and very little fact or knowledge.

1) No announcement about his appointment
2) No announcement about any actual role
3) Speculation about his success or not at Everton
4) No facts about his precise role at Everton, Chief Scout, Head of Recruitment, Ball Boy, who knows?
5) A misguided belief that the Blades are suddenly the mot prestigious club to join in the whole world, realism no much in evidence.

So all in all, its rubbish.

Well i saw an article about his major achievements at everton was bring DCL and Braithwaite in and he specialises in europe scout🤔

Thathas to be the stupidest thing I've ever read on the Internet barring Donald Trump.

Did his work experience in the club shop so he was nailed on for this.

Hmmm I presume he has had some targets in mind for Everton if they go down

lol, how predictable, an ex blade.

I don’t know his credentials so i won’t slag him off but i can’t help but feel his bladey bladeness was a big part of this. The small pond that we fish in we like to make even smaller.
Decent credentials by the looks of it though

Maybe you should examine his credentials. The extra knowledge of our club is another positive.

I'm sure no one would be parroting bladey bladeness ( which in itself is bladey bladeness but I digress) if Jay socik was to Come back and lead our analytics or if kyle walker and illiman ndiaye came back to play for us
Maybe someone having a connection with the club is a good thing and could be the difference between us losing out to another mid range - upper championship club

Will be interesting to see how he works with lower league targets, clearly at Everton he was charged with trying to find cheap gems so not surprised at the mixed results, only to be expected

The contradiction here is astounding.

Wilder worked with one at Boro. He openly made comments that he will work with a DoF. So you can edit the start if you like and remove that if you want to be balanced.

Proof will be in the pudding ultimately but you can see why he’d be an attractive options for us.

As other have mentioned he’s been a European scout with Everton focusing on Belgium and Holland but prior to that was their under 23’s scout with Unsworth and a scout for the FA working for the 18’s and 21’s sides. That coupled with his history here makes him an intriguing appointment he should theoretically have a good understanding of the club and what’s required whilst having contacts at top academies and a decent knowledge of some European markets.

Interestingly he’s credited with the DCL and Branthwaite signings.

The Bladey bollocks is a load of BS. Its also extremely ironic given it's the non Blades managers that have been the failures at this club post Bassett. A lot of our best players have been Blades too. Arblaster put in a razor sharp performance yesterday. If you're good enough, you're good enough.

There are genuine concerns about recruitment but also a lot of mythos. United's signings in the last Premier League seasons were signed by a technical board. The football staff had seats at the table but it's not true that Wilder held all the cards. This was made very clear in the fan forum when the Lowe/Bogle vote was discussed. Wilder wanted them, the board didn't. They voted against. Wilder came back with a new pitch and changed enough minds.

The concern for me is who is sat the table and the work that goes into transfers more generally. Post Warnock the only period of successful recruitment for the first team was the Wilder era pre Premier League. The rest of it has generally been a shit show that has been somewhat disguised by our academy graduates. It simply can't contine.

...and Ademola Lookman. Basically fishing in the lower leagues for young players with a high potential ceiling.

Overall, I can't see many signings which would have been within his remit that Everton during this time there have made that wouldn't have covered the initial outlay.
Obviously we can't really be sure which ones he was significantly involved in, aside from those three specifically mentioned young English players.

If i had the time i would, i’ll see what people on here say who have better knowledge of him.
