Good footballer when we had him last. Must be knocking on a bit now though. How old is he?

He's only 30, younger than I thought.

He'd be alright I'm sure, but I'd be wary of the journeyman factor. I think I'd rather get a decent foreigner in who's a bit younger (or indeed a British player if we can actually afford to buy one).

We can't afford him and he doesn't fit "the profile".

But aside from that, his career is one of the patchiest I've ever seen. He was excellent for us in one of his brief upward curves before Robbo binned him, but it's not a CV that suggests character.

Falls into the getting old, last pay cheque camp. Not for me. We need to learn this lesson once and for all, unless they're relatively exceptional. About 10 clubs didn't think he was.

"On 8 May 2013, Stead was released by City, in hopes of making a move up north to involve his kids spending time with their grandparents."

Well he wants to move up north. Last time he played at our level he scored 16 in 26 matches.
He's only just turned 30, so he's got the experience while still having 2 or 3 years left in the legs.
Sounds like a good signing to me. Warnock would sign him ;)

I doubt we can afford him but there's only us and Rotherham below the Championship in Yorkshire. It could be either us, Rotherham or possibly Doncaster.

He's got to be a better bet than Porter or Kitson and remove their wages and perhaps he is affordable.

I could see him moving into Penistone and just having a quick trip to drop his kids off with his parents in Huddersfield.

In the main Bristol City fans liked him.

Another ex blade returns? Will we never learn.

Holy crap we swim in a tiny pond don't we.

Get Danny Webber, Michael Brown and Nicky Law back and we could be sorted for life. Any other no marks out there that make picking footballers easier than actually thinking about it? Beattie hasn't hung his boots up yet, he can't be as bad as last time can he?

If Macca gets the job, you can pretty much guarantee Nicky Law will be his 1st signing.

I wonder if someone can come up with a washed up Blades XI to tempt us?

This thing about players having played for us before is getting a bit annoying. Yes he played for us before, does that mean we shouldn't suggest him.

People look out for our ex-players and obviously know a bit more about them having seen them before on a regular basis rather than someone we might have seen once or twice or not at all.

Maybe he could borrow Cheds house for 18 months ? and his boots :)

also, brown, whilst not being the player he was when he was when he was with us, is playing at a (much) higher level still so why all the hate for him?

We could get Ade Akinbadbuy out of retirement.

What is Horsfield doing these days?

Its a sign of the times that we could field 11 ex blades, all still playing football, that would probably push the top half of the premiership.

Kenny
Walker - Jagielka - Cahill - Naughton
Lowton - Brown - Britton - Dyer
Sharp - Blackman

Woah woah woah you are forgetting that mega star that is tearing it up down under!

Nick Montgomery the man who made the great Frank Lampard shit himself.

Id have Brown and Stead back no problem, both would bust a gut for us

I think Brown is more likely to bust someone else's guts with the way he fly's into tackles these days.

Its people like that we're missing, our players are a bunch of nesh bastards except Harry

I'd have him back. Always like him as a player, and thought he was underutilised by Blackwell/Robson.
