Archer

Ok he needs to work on his left foot,, but he put a shift in last night, could have done better when shooting, but remember, this team is short on confidence and last night they played s good as any home game I've seen this year, it'll come, hopefully a

Is the deal set in stone that if/when we’re relegated he returns to his parent club? I wasn’t too fussed about it up to last night, but I certainly saw what he could be capable of and would certainly excel in the Championship which he’s already proven. I’d be disappointed to see him return to be honest.

Yes left foot, left foot Archer- use it. Was Hamer playing last night.?
Yes he was, you obviously didn't see him and Souza working their bollocks off in midfield.
You probably missed the three great free kicks he took that our players were inches off converting.

Shame he hesitates instead of pulling the trigger.
I thought that against Liverpool where there was a golden chance to lay it off but he held onto it and ran into a wall.

I thought it happened again in the build up to the goal yesterday. However watching it back I kept asking why he didn't lay it off for McAtee. Watching it closely, at the best time to lay it off McAtee was in an offside position so Archer had no choice but to hold onto it.

I might need to watch the Liverpool scenario back again and see if it was the same problem.

Archer and McAtee have the makings of a good partnership which could flurish the more they play together. Their pace has given us a totally different dimension to our attacks.

In his short time with us and in the most difficult of circumstances , this lad has shown that he has all the attributes to become a seriously good attacking player with the ability to both score goals and assist in their making .

Without his sublime piece of skill and sheer determination out on the left in the build up to our goal , it would never have happened .

If we do get relegated which is still more than likely , I see him as someone who would play a key role in getting us back to the PL which , in spite of the media bias etc. etc. , is still the place in which most fans want to see their team competing .

Just before half time I was thinking that Archer and McAtee should change sides as Archer was struggling with cutting in and he doesn't seem to be able to do much with his left foot. Then McAtee did that. What do I know 🤣

Nobody knows for sure.

Personally I think his one footedness would mean Villa probably wouldn't want him. Let's hope they get in the champions league and loan him back if the case is they do get him back!

Saturday was his best game for us by a significant amount.

I reckon Wilder is going to get Mcburnie and Archer working nicely, Mcburnies hold up play should be perfect for Archer to play off him. Potentially a dynamic strike partnership. If anyones gonna get them playing well together its Wilder. Only injuries or suspensions will prevent a good few goals from the duo.

Need to do what it takes to make sure he's still here next season

No chance. We all know it's a glorified loan.

In some ways, a clever bit of innovative business... even if it is a little disappointing that we didn't show the ambition to do a proper deal for him.
To an extent, understandable with what happened with Brewster but it leaves us very short of firepower next season without him or (probably) McBurnie.

Does anyone know if archer will be able to play against villa due to the unusual arrangement we have with the transfer, knowing our luck we will get a points deduction for playing him

That's the most involved and best I've seen him tonight, considering the opponents, and it's interesting he was deployed in that left channel

Very surprised he didn't take on the chances with his left foot, given that he scored a brilliant one against us last season with his left. He had no option with that one, tonight he seemed to have too much time. If he put his left foot through that one near the end, we'd probably be walking away with a point

I think Wilder will focus on him and McAtee and get more out of both. Just need a CF who'll be available to play with them
I think you are on it with this one. Archer needs a regular partner and they will both benefit from it and score more goals.

Deane and Agana, Toshack and Keegan?

Not seen any praise for our goalscorer.

Great taken goal. He feeds off scraps but the lad’s a talent and I hope we can keep him if we go down. I think he’ll really blossom as he’s a natural finisher.

He’s already improving under Wilder - he’s more involved and working harder.

We may never know the T’s and C’s of his transfer - there seems an inevitably from some that he’ll be sold back to Villa if we’re relegated. Maybe we don’t feel like he’s truly our player? .

It’s a shame because he really excites me and I don’t think Archer is getting the kudos he deserves. We’re lucky to have him and he could be instrumental in the second half of the season if we can service him better.

Tonight’s goal was just the sort I wanted to see him score .

I’ve greatly admired his previous ones which came from powerful and accurate strikes but still left me wondering whether he had the ability and instincts to score predatory goals , an essential but often underrated quality of a genuine all round striker .

His movement , positional sense and the way he opened up his body in order to steer it home with the inside of his foot in a flash , comprehensively answered that question for me .

Whichever league we are playing in next season , I sincerely hope that he still with us .

Give him the ball in the correct positions he excells anywhere eles on the pitch he truelly underwelms but I wouldn't buy him for anything else than to score goals! Right areas he scores all day every day!

Quality player, shame it’s just a loan.

In this respect I’m confused .

At the time of his transfer , I’m sure I read at least one article which said that because there was some doubt as to whether the EPL would accept the structure of the deal originally agreed between the clubs , it had been scrapped and replaced with an outright purchase by us with no strings attached for a fee of around £17 million .

Can anyone provide provide specific information as to the precise nature of the arrangement which is in place?

Even Wilder doesn't know!

This means Villa have to repurchase Archer for £18 million in the summer of 2024 if the Blades suffer relegation to the Championship, Football Insider understands.

With respect , that information is “as Football Insider understands “ which is no guarantee that they are the precise terms on which the transaction was finally completed , which is what I am seeking to establish .

Someone who contributes on here will know the definitive answer . Will that someone please step forward and provide it . Please …….?

He was getting slagged off for ‘not pressing’ by some Blades for a lot of the game.

People clearly want a forward just to chase around like a prize prick and be too tired to score goals by the 70th minute.

He presses well within our structure just doing enough but not tearing around like a crazy bastard.

Great finish and always a pain in the arse for defenders when he plays off their shoulder. He didn’t get much change out of Konsa but he was there when we needed him.
