Fed up of hearing this now. He’s ready. in premiership Jebbison debuted aged 17. Macatee aged 19. Rooney aged 16, Owen aged 17, Cole Palmer who destroyed us aged 21. Cafamarteri for pigs aged 18. (Looks a prospect) and how many more? Arblaster is 19. If you’re good enough you’ll thrive and adapt. Watch him.

Add to that Newcastle. Lewis Miley. Aged 17

Alot of people on here wanted Andre Brooks sent out on loan "to develop"

Yet in he comes and more than holds his own.

There's a ill-gotten theory in this forum from the older generations that players in the academy should not have a clear pathway into the first team squad without going out on loan first.

Surely it's better for a players development to play against the best midfielders in the world than to play in league one

He's doing well in league one. There's a huge difference in leagues. Huge. Let him play more as he isn't getting in our side. Or do we want another jebbo situation and having him warm the bench?

Jebbo was a different situation and a different manager. He won’t be warming any bench if managed correctly. That’s the only doubt in my mind. I’m confident he’ll thrive, but if Wilder does his usual and picks Norwood/Fleck until they die, then I’ll admit you have a point. That’s not because Arblaster isn’t ready or good enough, it’s because like with Hecky, the manager lacks guts and vision.

I'd take each case on it's own merits; as an example after we signed Brewster he went straight into the team and in the next 4 games faced 3 of the best sides in the league. I maintain to this day that decision did untold damage to Brewster's development. Not sure about Arblaster he looks way above league 1 but ready for the Prem? I'm not sure.

Not sure many of the ones we've got already are ready for the Prem if we're honest!

Did Wilder have the guts to pick Brooks and Osula v Liverpool?

Port vale are lower mid table in league one so even being their best is hardly meaning he's ready now for the premier League. Of course it's not all on him but a full season of football is far more beneficial. If you think he's going to save us this year then with respect I think that's wishful thinking.

Not if they're not ready.

If they're physically and technically up to it, fine. If they're not, don't.

Doesn't make sense
Surely you will learn more from playing against better players

The way they make space ,communicate and conduct themselves no matter what level you are at surely you will Improve if you are the a willing learner

Because confidence is a huge thing, as is self belief, both have a better chance of being developed by playing at a lower level before being thrown in with the very best.

Fucking typical. Had he not been farmed out to the pub league he wouldn’t be injured and potentially screwed for some time.

Depends. He didn’t have much choice with McB suspended. Same with his midfield lacking due to suspension and injury I believe. However, give him his due, he did seem to appreciate Brooks mobility was and still is needed. Just wish he’d go further.

Aye, the pub league has been great for developing his talent and experience and tonight he played in a league cup quarter final against a Championship side.
