I see a lot of people on here saying the club should ditch the lot bar a few and start again. Well I am here to piss on your mr chips and bring you the squad list for next season as it stands.

Goalkeepers:

George Long - 20
Mark Howard - 27

Defenders:

Darryl Westlake - 22
Tony McMahon - 27
Matt Hill - 32
Harry Maguire - 20
Marcus Williams - 27

Midfield:

Michael Doyle - 32
Kevin McDonald - 25
Matty Harriot - 21
Ryan Flynn - 25
Elliot Whitehouse - 20
Callum Mcfadzean - 19

Strikers:

Chris Porter - 30
Shaun Miller - 26
Jamie Murphy - 24
Joe Ironside - 20
Diego De Girolamo - 18

Average age - 24

Collins, LJF, Kennedy & Chappell's contracts are all up in June, the rest are either contracted to 2014 or 2015, George Long (2016).

So the club will have to actively try and shift Doyle, Porter, Williams and Hill if they want to get rid of the old and useless.

Can't see us doing anything near the play offs next year in a division containing in all probability, Wolves, Bristol, Barnsley, Swindon, MK Dons, Notts County & Rotherham!

Fixed it

Nice lineup , it's a manager's dream job no expectations to succeed, he knows anyone with any talent will be sold so he has excuses for failure already built in.

I take comfort in the fact I won't lose a moments sleep whoever we now sell. Used to hurt like hell when a "favourite" was allowed to leave/shown the door. Now there really is no-one left I give a shiny shite about.

no we're all losing sleep over who's staying

All I got from this is the depressing realisation that a new manager could potentially come in and welcome Marcus williams back to the fold.

Collins signed a contract extension a few months ago, until the summer of 2015. The club even has the option of another year after that.

a bit misleading?

a lot of those players you have in the squad are unproven youngsters, a few more will probably be released.
midfield it wouldnt be that surprising if both doyle and macdonald moved on, 3 of the rest have barely played 10 games between em. that would only leave flynn as a proper first team player. porter could easily go too, leaving us with only miller (debatable if he will even be fit) and murphy (debatable he is even a striker) who are proper first team strikers.

im not saying the youngsters arent in the first team squad, but the point being all the youngsters will be on modest wages. so if mcliar trots out the old salary cap line you can smell the bullshit all the way from pluto. turnover to salary we surely must have one of the lowest percentage wage bills in the league next season. get ya self out of that one kevin.

I sorry but that squad should be winning the title. The raw unknown talent should rip teams apart.

They could however be totally wank

I presume Marcus Williams and SUFC will part ways no matter what. The fact he vansihed from the squad completely in January and hasn't been seen since suggests something very terminal has happened.

Those unproven youngsters as you call them are the exact lads that McCabe and the board want the next manager to build his team around. They will not be getting released.

Name a club that would be willing to take on the wages of Doyle, McDonald, Porter?

That is the probable squad to start next season.

Think you are right on most of those being still contracted.

JLF is defnitely out of contract but not many more outside of youngsters and alll the short termers; Kitson, Robson, Higginbotham that will head to MLS/Australia/SPL for one final pay day where they wont look as crap or pack it in

Collins has another 2 years. Along with Doyle. We have another year on Williams deal too!

I thought Porter has only been given an extra year - club took an option to trigger this?

I thought out of youngsters Harriott, Chappel, Kennedy and Barry were all out of contract this summer? Cant see any of these being retained. Kennedy may be given another year maybe.

Did we give Cressy another year (his original contract was not due to be up until end of this season was was renogiatiated - coaching role etc).

The fact we have on contract the likes of Williams, Doyle, Collins, Flynn, Hill for a further year is quite frightening.

Think the latter 3 personally could be ok squad players at best ut playing 40-46 games as part of our spine makes us realise why we aint going to do it again.

Yep your right Collins signed a 2 year extension in november to take hime to 2015.

Porter signed a 2 year deal with a 12 month option.

I think Cressy will go full time coaching next season.

Just because they're under contract doesn't mean they cannot be moved on. It'll be a lot easier/cheaper to shift a couple of these than the likes of Monty, Cresswell et al.

I maintain that the scope for squad renewal is greater this summer than last. In fact I'd suggest that delaying our planning due to the playoffs and not having a manager (or any sort of strategy for that matter!), will be our biggest barriers to success.

.

I would keep Chapell and Kennedy. Certainly if we are in L1 next year.

What? You've not fallen for that line surely? You don't think we're capable of making TWO plans and acting on the one that the result of the play-offs dictate then?

Not that I think we're capable of planning our way out of a wet paper bag....

...but logically there must be players out there who wouldn't commit to us unless we were in the league above. So perhaps by planning I mean acting.

I feel sorry for LJF, didn't think he was bad at all last season but those injuries have messed his career up, I'd be very surprised to see him play again, for anybody!

A lot rests on Miller getting up and running again. As depressing and wank as this season has been if we'd attacked just a bit more at home we would have been promoted automatically.

Because the league is a s shite as it is, we don't need wholesale changes, as desirable as they may be. But it's always about scoring goals and as, once again, we've sold anyone likely to to that, we really need Miller to come good again.

there will be clubs that would take on all those 3. mcdonald on his current wages. we would probably have to pay off doyle and porter to a degree, but i still wouldnt be surprised if they left on free transfers. if i was the new manager, id happily say yeah lets pay off 30% of their wages just to get rid of them. i bet motherwell would take porter back.

i didnt mean the youngsters getting released, i lazily used the word to mean released or moving on free transfers. ie williams and the other 3 i mentioned above. westlake could go on a free too, possibly howard.

whether we build a team around the youngsters or not, we wont have anywhere near enough first team players next season. which surely must mean signings? we cant just put the youngsters in, but have no backup.
