Compared with last season...

You know what, all things considered we've done VERY well to be that close to last year's points haul at the same stage of the season. I mean, look at that team compared to this. We've lost Evans, Quinn, Willo, Lowton...

Danny Wilson is doing a good job, despite what some people might claim.

we have to not lose to brentford and swindon , to win the title and win 6 of the last 8 to ensure it

I believe its within our scope , but theres no guarentees

I've said for sometime that 85 points will be enough this year and as each game goes by it is looking more and more the case.

Can we get 17 points out of 24?

85 will win it this year and (as I have been saying for ages) 83 will be enough for the 2nd automatic spot. 5 wins from our last 8 would see us over the line and we could even fuck up. Out last 8 results has seen us win 5, draw 2 and lose 1. That form would see us win the league. In fact, not losing to Brentford and Swindon and we could even lose a game (Walsall away is where I think we'll slip up) and still get up. Beat Brentford and Swindon at BDTBL and Olle might even be celebrating darn in Portsmouth after all!?*

We picked up 2 points on last year (as we drew at Prenton Park last year) and that puts us on -5.25 points compared to last season.

* this is a joke (or wishful thinking) as I think it will go down to the wire again this year. Lot's of twists and turns and a nail biting finish is on the cards.

Where's the graph grafikhaus?? Too angry or depressed to do it?!

2 points dropped in more ways than one yesterday. Last season's win at home to Carlisle means that we drop down to -7.25 for the season. Any sort of result at Walsall on Sat-di would mean we claw points back on last season, as we (infamously lost their last term).

I am a bit worried. Walsall have not lost since January and npow have the play offs to play for. Since the new year they have only lost 1 game (out of 17). Thye have drawn a few, but they just spanked Coventry. Their home record is pretty good and I think we'll be lucky to get a result there. Shoudl Bournemouth see off County at home and Donny beat Tranmere (also at home) then we will be quite far behind. We might have games in hand, be we could be looking at a situation where we need to win our next 3 home games. That heaps the pressure on us to break down Crawley and then beat Brentford and Swindon.

On current form (from Stevenage onwards) with the suspensions, knocks and injuries we have (will have) acumulated I cannot see where the goals are going to come from to get anything like the results we need.
We are just not creating anything to trouble the opposition.
So, based on this set of circumstances I predict we will get 2 points from the next 4 matches.

Walsall (A) - 0 points - way too good for us at the Bescott - I fear a hammering on Satdi
Crawley (H) - 1 point - same as yesterday - they will make it difficult and we will fail to break them down
Swindon (H) - 1 point - lucky draw after being outplayed
Brentford (H) - o points - our turgid home form and their dodgy away form - never in doubt we help break sequences for the opposition.

That will leave us on 71 points with a total possible return of 80 points if we win the remaining three fixtures.
That will not be good enough for automatic.

Donny will have sealed one of those automatic places in 3 games time as they have Tranny (H), Carlisle (H) and Crewe (A) next three and I see them getting max points from these three games, A. because they will beat Tranny then thrash Carlisle and B. because their momentum will seal it at Crewe.

Brentford will go up in second as they will scrape enough together to overhaul Bournemouth who will run out of steam. We will finish behind Swindon.

Enjoy :tumbleweed:

If Kitson is out as seems a strong possibility, our joint top scorers are then Collins and Maguire on 5 each.

We're going to be relying on Forte with probably, Porter, Ironside or Cresswell in that order to partner him with a grand total of 4 goals this season between them (not counting the shedload the latter two have scored on loan !) Murphy is a possibility but I can't see DW partnering him with Forte who, I would imagine is now 1st choice striker

Grim days indeed.

Oh, and don't forget KMac's inevitable booking on Saturday meaning he'll miss the next two. It's almost worth leaving him out at Walsall, I know he's not been the best this season but he's still one of the few hopes we have.

Grim indeed JC - it's like run in from last season all over again with the paucity of strikers worthy of the name.
He may well have no choice but to throw in Ironside as the partner for Forte and see how that goes. However, we all know that Porter will be the straight replacement for Kitson - who if he has done a Hammy, will not feature for us again - not even in the Play off semis.

Only hope is not to concede and play for corners so Maguire and Collins can come up from the back - only problem there is still the delivery - utter shite.

I think we are fooked.

6 games, 4 wins 1 draw needed minimum.

Home win on tuesday against crawley
lose at home to brentford
draw at home to swindon
Win away at Portsmouth
win away at Crewe

Leaves us going into the final day on 80 points.....

Home loss against Preston :(

I think we need 7 points off the next 3 home games, which with out home form is daunting.

DO we still think 83 is enough. Waiting fir Bournemoth to slio up is starting to feel a bit like waiting for the unclean to drop points last season..

We picked up a point at a ground where we lost last season, which puts us -6.25 compared to last season (by my calculations). Here are the remaining 6 fixtures and the associated points from last season:

APR9Crawley(H)2.5

APR13Swindon(H)2.5 APR 16Brentford(H)3APR20Portsmouth(A)P1 APR 23Crewe(A)1.75 APR27Preston(H) 3
It tells us that we pretty much need to win the next 3 games. 7 points is a minimum. I think that winning the next 2 and drawing against Brentford would be acceptable. The away games will be crucial and we will need to continue our good form and grind out results. It would also give us a chance to claw back points on last season’s tally. Then we would go into the final game against Preston. Replicating results from last season (as far as possible) ought to be enough, though we may have to better that if the Cherries win their last 3.

I’ve been banging on all season about 83 being the magic number. But know those 2 hat Southern Coast fookers are doing their best to throw that out of the window. If Bournemouth win all their games then they’ll finish on 85. I think that would see them get automatic promotion, but it would mean them winning 9 in a row. Waiting for them to drop points though, is starting to have a feel of waiting for the Pigs to slip up last season. On paper Bournemouth’s next 2 look very straightforward, with the only potential banana skin being Tranmere on the last day. Tranmere are likely to need a win to get into the play offs and at the moment this looks like the only place where Bournemouth might slip up.

I will say something else that I have been saying for ages again; this is going down to the wire. Us and Brentford both have games this week and a chance to close the gap on Bournemouth. Brentford’s other game in hand is against us! That just shows the importance of the match Tuesday week. It will go down to the 27th though and I expect us, Brentford and Bournemouth all to go into the final game with a chance of automatic.

sumert going wrong wi mi laptop. Here are the remaining fixtures .......
APR 9 Crawley(H) 2.5
APR 13 Swindon(H) 2.5
APR 16 Brentford (H) 3
APR 20 Portsmouth (A) 1
APR 23 Crewe (A) 1.75
APR 27 Preston (H) 3

Regardless of graphs (:)), calculations etc., a glance at today's table shows that - barring a disaster - we're play off bound. Forget auto. The next question is, could we beat Swindon, Yeovil etc. over 2 legs to make Wemberlee?

it's hard not to be negative at the mo, donny scraping 1-0 wins, bournemouth cruising. even if we achieve a miracle of winning our next 3 home games its irrelevant if those 2 keep winning.

as for the playoffs, our record speaks for itself. but we do seem to make the final, can we actually turn up for once?

It could just be the dream scenario for KM if we settle for a play off spot, a couple of extra games and a huge pay day from Wembley wonder how much a final appearance and loss is worth to the club ??? Probably not enough to stop the sale of Maguire in the summer after the mugs renew their season tickets.

I think 78 points is a bit optimistic - I still reckon we will finish on something like 74 or 75
May save us another shite journey to the money pit though.

Sorry for non-appearance of the latest graph. My new PC has got a very interesting virus and I'm on my old one. I'll put it up as soon as poss...

Back to normal! (an absolute Deusy of a virus - just taken 4 hours to get rid) I blame Wilson.
Anyway, latest graph - play-offs, deffo. Auto, no chance.

My PC is (hopefully) now virus-free and here's the latest graph:

What an amazing match on Tuesday! Play-offs now, but hopeful all the same (even against Brentford!)

Gutted with their late equaliser but a draw was a fair result - don't forget they missed a penalty (we missed ours...) and McDonald did that incredible goal-line clearance in the first half.

Obviously, the ref. was an utter cunt and missed many blatant fouls by them (McMahon getting elbowed, Hill getting kicked in the head. But he saved the best till last. He was absolutely determined to even up the sending off/penalty count, and Harry's challenge was fair - not a penalty and sending off.

83 is the magic number!! Bein sayin it all along.

Bournemouth r gunna drop points in the next 2 games. The stats say so. Win the next 3 and we are in with a chance!? This is guin darn t the final day muckers. Am tellin thee.

you must be ecstatic we got 5 points

you must be ecstatic we got 5 points
Yes I am :)
But even more pleased that we are showing he sort o bottle, battle, determination and fight that has been sadly lacking for most o the season.
Don't forget, those predictions were made as we were sliding into the run in with eyes wide shut after 3 blanks at home and playing negative, boring football and not creating anywhere near enough chances.

By the way 5 from 12 is still nowhere near good enough

I now predict we will get 3rd spot, beat Swindon over two legs, and make the oh so familiar trudge to the theatre of purgatory.

Of course Brentford will play both Donaldson and BWP as a strike pair and they will rip us to shreds with their pace over those wide open spaces.

We might just nick a goal this time, though, it's just a possibility, just a possibility.

Morgs and Rhino have breathed life back into the club.
It's back to being exciting instead of dour, turgid, low key, bobbar.

I am not anti Wilson, I quite liked the bloke. I am, however, pro entertainment and pro excitement.

They say it's a results business.
Well it's not I you are a Blade, is it?
If it was you would follow another team
It's about nights like Tuesday. Passion, goal action, excitement, singing your hearts out for the lads.
It's about goal celebrations and taking the piss out of the opposition.
It's about a never say die attitude
It's about overcoming the odds when they are against you
It's about being part of The Blades family
We're not the best - but we fucking well are!

we lost a game , not a crime , but the timing was awful, especially for DW
But the players were drifting listlessly at home, had lost all focus, he has to take the can for that
Enter Captain Morgan , and like the rum hes given them a bit of zest back, wether we get auromatic is in the lap of the gods now , but,,,
Im not as scared of the play offs now if under Chris we have found our mojo

I like the sound of that - I'd take auromatic now ;)
