Has anyone heard it - I picked it up from BBC website

Our pathetic excuse of a manager comes out with bullsh!t on top of bullsh!t
"Two mistakes from two of our best players this season cost us the game'' - No Mr Wilson your crap tactics and players lack of effort cost us the game - we haven't scored at Bramall Lane for over 300 minutes of football, we don't even look like we will score and then you decide to take off the only two players with any pace whatsoever (alright Forte was having a mare!) and play the rest of the game with Porter and Kitson as our strikeforce - Snail and Tortoise move quicker than those two!!!

As for Paul Walker interview technique - he is as mealy mouthed as the manager - he had just listened to many Blades fans come on and slag Wilson off yet he gave him the softest inerview imaginable - what a tit!

Listening to Wilsons comments he obviously wasn't watching the game or else he has cataracts!!

More important last night was the fact that the interview came after he'd kept the players in the dressing room for over an hour after the game. You always have to take media interviews with a pinch of salt, as you say, the questions are generally vague enough for a vague answer to be given and there's no way a manager is going to publically slag off players at this stage of the season. More important that the right things are said face to face with the players and it looks like that happened last night. Whether it makes any difference, time will tell.

Time for a re think , football success is based on scoring goals, we just aint doing it

radical change required to kick start what is still a great opportunity , got to alter the mind set ,way too negative on the park , cant blow this chance away with pussy footing around

Blimey you sound like Paul Walker. All too little, too late for me.

How do you know? From what I read on here they got an earful at half time on Saturday as well, and that improvement lasted all of 45 minutes. They should also have had bollockings after each of the preceding 3 home games and at Stevenage.

Either they aren't listening and Wilson has lost them (my theory) or he's not doing it at all.

he'd kept the players in the dressing room for over an hour after the game.

They were having a game of "rock, paper, scissors" to determine the venue of the end of season party.

Omega Sauna, followed by a pub crawl around Darnall were the eventual winners, on Friday 26th. Fancy dress optional.

Unless they had some kind of post match karaoke competition or beetle drive, I suspect they got a bollocking.

I've no idea why it's not working. The manager, could be but it's down to the players once the game kicks off. Are they pissed off with him and his tactics, maybe but what about personal pride and as a footballer, natural instinct surely takes over in most situations, you can't completely change the way you play under orders.

Maybe, just maybe, the players just aren't good enough.

So if our players are not good enough, are you saying other teams have better players than ours?

I can see where you're going with this but I'm sure we could make up a team from the other clubs in the top 6 of players better than ours.

Wilson needs to get on to thetechnologically savvy at BL, create a video montage of everything great that has ever happened at BL, show the crowd going wild, preferably with something like Feeder - Buck Rodgers as the music, get the muppets to watch it, remind them that they are still footballers, remind them that they still have the power to achieve greatness, remind them that they can still become heroes, remind them to grow a pair, be prepared to die for the cause, make them believe in theirselves and i think we'll be alright.

I've been following the Blades for nearly 65 years and I'm as baffled as the rest of us as to why we cannot score goals. Admittedly our players are not the greatest, but we had strikers out there last night who have scored goals at this level. Forte had a spell at Notts County and even got a hat-trick. Kitson has scored plenty in his career. Murphy did well enough in Scotland. Earlier in the season the defenders and midfielders were chipping in with the odd goal.

It's been going on too long to blame it on bad luck. The loss of Miller was a blow, and Blackman may (or may not) have scored a few if he had stayed. Do we blame the system? The manager? McCabe? I certainly don't know.

Answers on a post card please....

(And please don't talk about "lack of passion". Jimmy Hagan never showed passion. What we need is a bit of skill and a lot of commitment).

It would only be two minutes long but I am not sure the squad has that long an attention span

...or he could just do the right thing and fuck off out of the club.

Didnt work from Sat though did it?

I think there are several ways we can improve even with the same set of players:-

1) More movement off the ball - Nobody seems to be moving to try and create space for themselves or others. Even when we have a throw in, the thrower seems to have to wait an age before a couple of our lads make an half-hearted jog into a yard of space. This movement needs to come from the players but if the manager doesn't see it happening from certain players, he should be down on them like a ton of bricks.

2) More patience in the opponents half - If I was Wilson I would ban any of his players from crossing when they're not inside the 18 yard line. Their first thought always seems to be to swing an aimless ball in from deep and it's far too easy for the opposing defenders to deal with. When we have posession in the opponents half, Wilson should be encouraging the wingers, full backs and McDonald to work the ball into a good crossing position from near the byline (like Williamson/Lowton/McDonald did so often last season).

3) Take opportunities for a quick break - At least 3 or 4 times last night, Long collected the ball and looked upfield to see what was on. Nobody was moving, so he held onto the ball while the opposition hurried back into defensive positions. As a team, we need to be much more alive to the prospect of launching a quick counter-attack. That could either be a quick throw out to a winger in space, or it could be a 60 yard hoof towards the corner flag. Anything to try and catch the opposition while they're out of position and facing their own goal.

4) Set pieces - Better delivery required overall. And why not try a bit of innovation like the Bassett back-heel corner or the Blackwell "whoops" routine. When was the last time anyone in the team tried something different or you thought "that was clever, they've worked on that on the training ground"?

Having seen the goals just now, missing out on the build up so I don't know how the play built up but Collins and particularly Maguire were pathetic for the goals. We moan about 84 year old Dave Kitson having no pace, Maguire couldnt have out run Paul McGrath last night.

It could be that players aren't putting in a shift because there's no real competition for places. If someone strolls his way through a match, it doesn't matter - they're still getting a game next week because DW won't drop him for one of the kids.

what the? I am sure I could probably find a team out of the bottom 6 clubs to beat United, but luckily this isn't fantasy football we are playing here.

So you're basically agreeing that we've overachieved this season in which case DW must have done a reasonable job given the players at his disposal :)

I am beginning to think that our players are just not good enough. No guile or creativity at all.

Could it be that Wilson has done very well with what he has at his disposal?

I am sure he would love to play a passing game, open and attacking, but how can he with the players we have. Kitson and Porter are so slow. Forte seems hopeless. Flynn lightweight. Mcdonald arguably our most gifted player has no one to play with, he needs a Quinn or Evans to be at his best.

I think it is the players who are weak, not Wilson. His tactics and style of play correlate directly with the ability of his team.

Some say we are in a false position right now and have been for a long time. I don't know. I still hope we can claim one of those promotion spots, if only we could raise our game and win the next five.
