Prince - give us some direction

Sadly we are owned by a man who has a bit of money which allowed him to buy a football club. He has not got enough money to run it properly and has no experience to run it effectively.

I started watching the Blades a long time ago and in all that time it has been the idiots and egos in the boardroom who have screwed the club up. There appears to be no sign of this changing in the near future.

But beyond that, this side right now is good enough to compete at the top of the championship and bounce back

We’d need to build on it though, build for the future. Not with huge signings but with signings to expand this squad so that we have a squad with more depth for the next promotion.

We’re not in free fall. We’re just too shit for this league but we’ll also protect the future of the club because we’re not breaking the bank or the wage structure we need to keep in the championship.

Promotion wouldn’t be guaranteed of course and yes we need to make some changes. We need to change the manager or the way we play to be on the press much more. But we’re not in free fall
After a season like we are having/about to have i genuinely worry about how this group of players will respond next season. As shocking a season as this could absolutely kill some players mentally, very hard to start winning every week after a season of getting whipped every week.

That’s a good point and something we won’t know until next season - maybe they’ll be more fired up…

Reality is that we will go down.
But whether we had a decent season and went down on the last day or we go down by Xmas breaking all records… it’s almost irrelevant. We could be the worst premier league side ever… embarassing, yes. But beyond that, this side right now is good enough to compete at the top of the championship and bounce back

And don’t forget we might need 15 players with a budget of 2 million or so

Norwich owners came out and said their plan was to bank cash and return stronger. It's fair to say that didn't work for them.

I can't imagine it set a pathway others would choose to follow either. I genuinely think this side is worse than last years. I can't see it fighting for promotion

Prince , the club you own is in free fall , without a strategy, without direction and worst of all - without purpose .

You are passively sleepwalking this proud club into oblivion - please give us all some sort of direction , if only for the sake of the man who has saved this clubs short term future and your backside by getting us up .

Prince , step up , now
Absence of leadership starts at the top

Yes, come and save the man you appointed.

Yes he gambled on keeping Iliman and Sander last season so it wouldn't jeopardise our promotion, but only so he could sell us for more profit as A Premier League side.
Now he's priced himself out of a sale he's about to have a Championship one to try and flog.

He didn't gamble. No one put in any firm bids for them.

The silence from the ownership is appalling. Our proud history is being destroyed. To PA this doesn't seem to matter. Only his own financial perspective. There is absolutely no excuse. Parading on the pitch when we got promotion, now silent and passive.
Hecky should have gone today, or a statement of support from the board. Just silence.
I was taking my wife and daughters to the Wolves match next Saturday. Tickets bought, trip planned, hotel booked, we live near Stroud. Instead I have told them to go to Meadowhall shopping. Well out of the centre. I predict a torrid atmosphere, fighting on the Kop, demonstrations in the car park, and given Wolves fans are generally aggressive, I expect a bloodbath outside BL stand. I'll be there, sat with my sister in South Stand, I'm not a wimp.
What a state this club has become under PA leadership. I am truly disgusted. This cannot go on. Maybe you think I'm over reacting, let's see what Saturday brings. The fight and fury of the fans will be exposed if we limp to another big defeat on Saturday.
Or we could scrape a result?

Currently, every team in this league is better than us and we are likely to lose on Satdi. Personally, I'm going for the day out and will enjoy it even if the football is crap.

It could be worse mate, you could have been born a Wendy 🤷

from Abba, our new song to run out to

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
It's a rich man's world
It's a rich man's world
A man like that is hard to find but I can't get him off my mind
Ain't it sad?

If we break a PL record for low points I don't think you realise the hangover it'll have on the club.

Derby have never recovered

Not sure why anyone expected anything different....we're Sheffield United, we rinse and repeat.....poor ownership and running of the club have been a staple for decades....

Sadly we are owned by a man who has a bit of money which allowed him to buy a football club. He has not got enough money to run it properly and has no experience to run it effectively.

Indeed.

In the early 70’s, the Board wouldn’t build on a side boasting the likes of Badger, Woodward and Currie because ‘we didn’t have the income that other clubs had due to the small number of seats - which generated more income than terrace tickets - relative to other First Division clubs. We were also told that average gates of 35,000 were needed to enable us to compete. Gates had to come first and then the club might consider showing ambition in the transfer market - not the other way round which is how it typically works at every other club.

For the second half of the 70’s, all of the 80’s and the first half of the 90’s, the fans were told that we couldn’t compete because of the fabled ’South Stand debt’. A stand that was quoted to be a £650,000 project, became a £3m millstone around the club’s neck for 20 years.

Recent years have seen occasional flashes of investment - by McDonald and McCabe - but they have always been extremely short-lived and immediately followed by prolonged periods of ‘buyer’s remorse’ necessitating painful cloth-cutting and inevitable decline on the pitch.

Now, we seem to have arrived at a stage where ’buying back the property assets from McCabe’ has become this generation’s ‘South Stand debt’. It is seemingly something that, however much the club pays out, the liability never goes down.

Literally the only time that the Club has ever punched at or above it’s weight as a football club was from Summer 1981 to Summer 1982, when Reg Brearley poached an up-and-coming manager and backed him with the funds to buy players - Edwards, Morris, Young and Curran - way above the station we were then currently playing at.

Bottom line is that The Prince, is a shrewd businessman who outfoxed McCabe and was lucky that Wilder achieved the impossible and delivered riches of the Premier League. However he has missed his opportunity to sell at ‘top price’ in April to Jun this year & is now staring down a barrel. I honestly do not know where he goes with this club now and that is quite scary for the fans.

He is not wealthy enough to manage a club above League 1 level…….but maybe we’ll end up back there eventually if he can’t work out how to sell us!

Your expectations are too much
When Hecky signed we had a 5 year plan and 3 pillar strategy
He said he was not attending matches any more and his team would manage from abroad, take a back seat
PA has stated he has personally invested 70 million and basically has no more money left
He needs to look after his family etc
As said many times, until he sells and moves on we are just a yo yo club, we have two more years of relegation money to support us too re set and go again
Promotion to the PL is financially fantastic but without sustaining massive investment is nigh on impossible to stay up
It’s a perfect catch 22 situation

This - yet he spun it at the close of TW that he was keeping IN & SB and that this was his decision

Exactly. Why else was Hecky told to leave Sander out of the squad for the Wrexham match.

Half the team are out on long term injuries so are not used to losing 😀

To be honest, we all have our opinions, but none of us have proof of the truth, do we?

What is for certain is that having Illiman and Sander in the team for the second half of last season was crucial to our promotion. Had we not achieved that promotion, the resultant, long term financial shitshow would have dwarfed any fallout that we can expect at the end of this season.
Let’s all try to keep things in perspective ( not how social media works, I know......).

I agree with everything you said but I do think PA or Steven Bettis Ned's to say something to give clarity on where we are right now including the managerial position to end all the speculation !
I think PA would be the one, whenever he's been interviewed on " Sheffield United way" podcast it's always been interesting and to the point, I think all our support need this right now !!

totally agree with you swissblade there is a massive gap between the premier league and the championship as is being proved by the 3 promoted teams in the bottom 3 and relegated leicester running away with the championship title unless youve got multi millionaire owners forget about doing anything in the modern day premier league at least if we get relegated abdullah has to bring his ridiculous price for the club down for what its worth i think we do need a change of management at the club with new ideas and new tactics

If they were in the Championship they would have some goals and wins and therefore the confidence to display their talents.
They may not get promoted but I think they would be very close
