One of the best ever Championship players.

One I would keep for next season in the Championship.

One I’d not be keen to see play for us again in the Premier League

One of the best ever Championship players? Really?

He's the most consistently inconsistent player I've ever seen. You never know which Norwood will show up. The one who can control a game from start to finish, or the one who has zero influence and makes no effort to try to win the ball back. I fail to see how a player who is so 50/50 and therefore not reliable can be one of the divisions best ever players.

When he's good, he's very good. When he's not very good we're playing with 10 men and you have to ask if he's even on the pitch.

Wants to be here.

That’s more than half the battle already given the way some have performed since arriving.

Not going to hide…clearly has that affiliation for the club now and is exactly the person you need on the pitch to lead.

Whatever formation or tactics we are playing we need to find away to get him on the ball more and let him expand the pitch to get us wide and forwards.

Always amazes me that folk think these players turn shit overnight, they don’t, very little changes other than failings of those around them in setting the team up right or doing their jobs correctly.

Norwood is exactly the same in PL terms as he was 3 seasons ago. overmatched, unfortunately.

He had a nice bounceback season after losing form/sulking under Slav, but his powers looked to be on the wane second half of last season. He doesn't have the legs for the PL, unfortunately, and unlike in 2019-20 there aren't midfielders around him to cover for him.

I love Norwood, and the fact that he's a most unusual Sheffield United midfielder - someone that wants the ball, and usually knows what he's going to do with it before he gets it. When he's in his pomp (promotion season, some of first Prem year, some of last year), he's excellent to watch. We as a club don't get many like him.

That being said - I think everyone came into this season expecting him to be a backup player, starting 6 league games or so, and coming on as a sub when needed. I doubt the management team planned on Norwood being a regular starter this season! As it turns out, yes he's being shown up, but actually in the first couple of games I thought he was the only one in the middle who looked like he knew what he was doing (no surprise given the turmoil in midfield).

I'd give him another deal next year again as a backup player, assuming we're in the Champ. I think he'd accept that, playing the elder statesman role, and stepping in when needed.

And unfortunately we don’t have another player who can fit into the current system and do it better than him.
Souza is even slower, without the passing ability!! And we paid a lot of money for him

I think your first point is quite telling.

If Norwood is the best player for this system, should we be playing the system at all?

It doesn't seem to suit any of the midfielders we have signed.

He is consistently in the top 5-10 central midfield players in the Championship, EVERY season he plays there.

He's had 4 (!?) promotions from that division now. He is certainly one of the best Championship midfielders of all time.

Imagine how good he would be if he had a bit of pace

I just wanna know where his ping has gone. For 2 or 3 seasons his dead balls were top tier, what's happened

The most consistent midfielder in the Championship, on a par with Peter Whittingham. Consistently brilliant.

Really good series, hopefully more to come,
It was interesting that when he was with Alan Knill at Scunt, Knilly wanted to play good football, half the dressing room said they couldn't play his way and the other half wanted to play Knilly's way, it divided the dressing room, Knilly's always been reco as a good coach, makes you wonder why he never coached at one of the top six clubs in the Prem' I guess it's managers that want their own people in.

Heart says - he's the type of senior pro that's sets sides apart. If he wants to be here til he retires, then we should make that happen. He takes over the role from Billy has the custodian of the squad.

Head says - sport is brutal with no room for sentiment. It's getting quicker, more physical year on year. Even in the championship next season he'll be out of his depth.

Excellent interview and shows the absolute dedication and commitment for someone to try and make it in the game as a pro. Absolute genuine guy and will hopefully go down as a Blades midfield legend (even though many people write him off, simply because he's not the player he was a few years ago, but still gets picked)

Showed great respect to fellow players, managers and coaches It has been a pleasure to see him play for us

There’ll be a few posters on here absolutely seething with these fake statistics that don’t even mean anything anyway. ;) Worra player our Ollie has been for us.

I really like listening to Norwood, he seems to have the right mindset.

Although I’m critical of him at times on here you can tell he’s very much a player who loves the backing and support of the fans in the ground and no matter what he says, it definitely gets to him when people get on his back.

He’s not what we need this season but will always be associated with a fantastic period and one of the best squads I’ve seen us have.

He’ll end up somewhere in Greater Manchester by the sounds of what he says. I wish him nothing but the best when he eventually leaves us.

In my lifetime, it’s unarguable. A huge part in two promotions and 9th place Prem finish.
Yes, he has peaked for the modern game, and he is gradually going downhill now. He should be a squad player this season only.

Even if we are relegated, PH will probably want to play him and Fleck in the championship next year.
