Will Wilson stick with his attack minded ethos of late?
Or go back to the dour & negative 'trying not to loose' mentality?
Lets hope its the first option!

He's bound to be a bit tentative Kev, but i would imagine we'll see the same positive attitude that we've seen at Bury and Shrewsbury of late. I really believe that with the attacking options at our disposal, we will go there and get a victory.

At 1-0 against Colchester on saturday we still had a couple of "frighteners" until we got the 2nd.
I think we are like a man city under Kevin keegan where we need to get 5 goals to be anywhere near safe in a game.
Hope we go for it, attack attack attack !

There's dour and negative, then there's Warnock's away games! I'll stick with Wilson's

...but as you say, our defence looks prone to being caught flat-footed. Against Colchester, in the second half, there was a 4-onto-2 in their favour, the guy wasted the cross and their manager went spare.

Like many people, I'm a bit apprehensive about Saturday. But comparing our record with theirs, there's no need to be. Only us and Brentford have only lost 5 times, they've let in 42 compared to our 29, we've a game in hand and that's in a season where we've been, mostly, crap.

Key game all the same. Not a disaster if we lose but, like last season, will show we can't do it against those around us. Be interested if Forte is still unavailable as well...

For me it’s a “must not lose” game, not a “must win”. But many managers take this opportunity to play a defensive game and perhaps set up for a draw. Wilson decided on this strategy v Wednesday last season, at least that was how it appeared. We seem to play every play off semi in a do or die manner, but approach the Play Off Final with too much caution.

The problem is that you almost have to second guess the opposition.

Are there obvious frailties in playing the way that we played in the last 3 games? If we’re suspect at the back, but have not been up against a challenging opposition then a more cautious approach would be prudent. But if we think that defensively we are strong and can play better if we allow the midfield and strikers more freedom, then I’d say let’s go for the win, worst case get a draw.

How dangerous are Bournemouth going forward?

Bournemouth are definitely an attack minded side and will leave gaps at the back. I would be tempted to just go for it and try to out score them. The one thing we don't want to do is hand them the initiative. We have to do what we've done in the last 2 or 3 games and start well, get on the front foot and be at it from minute 1. This is a season defining game and if United win it I think they'll take some stopping.

From a historical perspective:

- Bournemouth have won the grand total of one game against United, at the Lane on the first day of the 1987-8 season - Bournemouth's first ever game in the second flight.

- United have never lost at Bournemouth

- United have won on their last 4 league visits to Bournemouth, their longest current run anywhere.

- United have beaten Bournemouth in 7 straight matches (away in 1988, double in league in 1990, cup in 1990, double last season, at home this season).

I still think we lose. It's a Big Game. We do not normally win Big Games.

Huddesfield away last season?

Yes, we won that one, sandwiched between defeat at the Valley and Hillsborough...

well im 100% more confident about the game on sat than I was 3 games ago. Plus we tend to do better playing away, gonna be tough though.

Best form of defence is attack , get into em early and hard , would take a draw now then move on , but if we do go out and attack from the off think we will beat em , but you can bet your bottom dollar , some folks on here will be on givin out sayin we should have been defensive what sort of team was that etc, etc, if the unexpected happens and we get beat. No need to name names we all know who you are !! ;)

Bournemouth only lost one at home so far according to the table.
Isnt' going to be easy - fixture history counts for nothing anyway

I remember it. It was a poor game. The late winner was scored from 25 yards by a decent midfielder called S. O'Driscoll. Anyone know what happened to him?

Simon Francis at right back is good going forward (has more assissts than any of our players), but is prone to losing concentration defensively. He seemed to play in his slippers at the Lane which Flynn took advantage of. Maybe Murphy can cause him even more problems?

I can see us playing a central midfield 3 of Robson,KMac and Doyle with Forte and Murphy wide to try and frustrate their passing game and hit them on the break

Not a make or break game for us but a win would do wonders for confidence in the team and fans

No, it was Shaun Brooks who scored their winner. I do know what happened to O'Driscoll though...

Leaning saved a penalty when it was 0-0. It was all downhill from there for him.

....I knew it was Shaun! :) Good goal it was too, out of keeping with an awful game.

In an odd way I'm pleased the game is at Bournemouth and not at home.

Both sides will be happy with a draw and I suspect it will end 1-1.

Its one of those goals that sticks in the memory. A corner at the Kop end on United's right wing. The taker just played it out to Brooks on the edge of the box and in it went.

Shame he never kicked on when he was with us. A lot of hype about him when he arrived from Bradford and looked tidy enough on the ball when he played. Looks like he's a regular for them so seems he's finally settled down at a club.

I seem to recall one game he played for us where he kept getting forward and kept hoofing crosses over the penalty area and out of play. We then found out after the game that he had concussion from an earlier challenge. Everyone was wondering what was going on during play! I was impressed that he was even able to carry on! Does anyone else remember that?

I remember that. Didn't he also contract something like Rheumatic Fever that prevented him from paying for a good while?
