I guess that puts paid to the Kop expansion then.

Not at all. SUFC have recently had approval to extend the time limit for the implementation of the previous Kop application by another 3 years. Of course, as with any scheme including the apartments one, just because planning permission is in place, it doesn't necessarily mean that the work will be carried out. Quite why you would spend good money pursuing a permission for something you don't intend to implement I don't know but it does happen.

I'm surprised there's nothing on the club's official website about this.
I would have thought they'd be keen to share their exciting news.

2 P's in apartments - really??!!

Mais oui, l'orthographe continentale.....just to make it sound a bit more French like. Much better than flats.

I wonder if the Park Hill regeneration will result in them being miraculously turned into apartments? my money's on the whole thing being renamed Norfolk Heights.

The 'studio flats' are 30 sqm. the area of a reasonable 1 bedroom flat is 45 sqm so we are talking about the lowest quality dwelling. As happened with the Hotel and the Business centre, which were thoughtlessly located too close to the pitch and hence make expansion (as if) difficult, these flats will be in the way of any intelligent general development of the ground. What really needs to happen is that the pitch is moved towards Shoreham Street to make for more even stadium development, (the Bramall Lane stand is squeezed in and restricts capacity) then that would suggest 'forward planning' wouldn't it?
I'm bothered that the McCabe family are using the ground as their private fiefdom and 'Junior' is having a practice at development here.
It is of no qualities and will prove a problem to SUFC in future.

Yet another truly terrible day to be a Blade. Thousands of Blades up in heaven will be disgusted, thousands will be turning in their graves and yet clueless apologists like Swiss could not give a toss about the desecration of sacred land. Truly, you make me sick and truly I mean it when I say you have helped destroy this club. As Raul says, you'll soon get your dream of 6k clappers patting each other on back because they are Blades no matter what or whatever shit goes through your mind when you make way through affordable housing projects to your seat[/quote]

Jon blade - didn't mean to post under your Stuff. Apologies.

It's entirely fair to ask how developing the land in this way benefits the football club. I'd have less of a problem with it if it was part of the overall ground development / Kop rebuild. But it looks like an easy way for the owners to make money.

Them making money isn't necessarily a bad thing, as the football club owes them X million squids. But it needs to be seen to come off the tab, reduce SUFC's endebtedness, and thus make the club more viable in future.

This is the funniest thing posted here for a while.

And here he is, right on cue! Not a word about the last three wins, in fact he hasn't posted since his last gripe.

Could not give a toss about beating 3 pub sides. Big effin wow, SUFC are 4th in L1.

What I could give a toss about is some disgusting property developer building disgusting apartments on BDTBL.

Just cannot believe some people aren't concerned about this.

Sometimes I think it would be worth a lifetime ban to say what I really thought.

To be fair to Mic, he's taken a few days off work so he's had less time to post nonsense than usual.

Im sure ,if we had lost 3 in a row ,he wouldnt have managed to get on would he ?

I'm concerned about it but "give a toss" about the team's results also.
Wouldn't it be better to lay out the reasons for your concern and try to convince them they should be also.

Playing to the gallery with pantomime outrage and stating you don't care about the team's performance tends to have the opposite effect.

Interesting comments here.
My concern is what will the younger family do eventually as the senior figure of the family is not getting any younger.

This has no effect what-so-ever on any future expansion of the stadium and despite accusations to the contrary is part of the masterplan which was drawn up about 6 years ago to ensure any development is done in cohesion with any other short or long term ambitions for development of both the stadium and the surrounding land.

Multi occupency student flats are generally around 15-20sqm in area per room with shared ammenity space so they are also far from 'lowest quality'
