Thank you Prince & Hecky & backroom team

Despite losing Berge & illy, this group of players look great.
We are much stronger whatever the end of season brings.
But I do think that this squad will stay up & will be a great foundation for the future

Fantastic is overstating it somewhat. We’ve just about managed to pick the turd up and shove it in the shit bin rather than merely trying to polish it. Which in the circumstances deserves a modicum of credit I suppose.

We’re stronger in the midfield with McAtee. We’re probably just about on a par elsewhere in the team. Playing catch up has already had an affect on performances.

We're a good deal stronger in midfield. You're understating it significantly.

Up front I think we're arguably better too. Having both Archer and Traore to pick from rather than relying on Ndiaye alone is an improvement.

In defence, being as we've retained everyone and added two stronger left sided options, we're better too.

On paper, considering the lows of the two sales, I’d say it feels like a good window. ‘Fantastic’ we will only know in a few month. Few gambles in the mix which will decide it.

Hasn’t ended yet.

Wouldnt say it’s fantastic …..I’d say it’s been good/ acceptable as a bare minimum.
At least we have given ourselves a realistic chance of staying up and that’s all I wanted.

But an opinion is based on expectation....and I knew we were going to have a good transfer window.
How did I know? the Prince said he'd make us competitive and we have a decent budget...in his recent interview.

I suppose for any doom and gloom merchants then it is fantastic
Moral of the story....don't listen to the doom and gloom merchants...telling us the Prince hates us...wants to relegate us and run off with the money.

Totally unfair reading of the situation.

Other Prem team spending 100's of millions because they are backed by rich owners. The Prince by his own admission ain't a wealthy bloke- but you would have to say

1- He's kept to his word and let Hecky have the incoming monies

2- Considering his relatively poor wealth standing - he's absolutely backed The Blades with this transfer window to the hilt.

Proportionately to his wealth standing he's probably given the most out of all the Prems owners

I am pleased with what we have and if we give it a fight - great

If we go down fighting so be it- and I reckon we do alright again next year.

WE are Sheff Utd not Man Utd - if it fucks you off - support them.

At the end of the day it's 3 players who performed well in the Championship, and 4 relatively cheap unknown signings from Europe. Plus Thomas and Davies who were available due to being surplus to requirements at their respective clubs, so have been brought in to cover injuries.

I'd have expected that as a bare minimum when we got promoted. I also expected to keep Berge and Ndiaye and was hopeful with Doyle.

So all in all I'd say that's not great, but maybe my expectations were too high.

pity we didnt have Thomas, McAtee, Archer and Hamer available from sart of the season - the Palace game.. both that and Forest we could have picked up points.

This will very much depend on how many of the 17 out of contract players sign an extension and if not how they are replaced.

Who of the 17 players are unlikely to sign a new contract if we make an offer? Not very many I would say.

The out of contract players is being blown well out of proportion, there are no Ndiaye or Berge type players with less than 1 year on their contract.

It would depend on what we offer them. I'd say we'll probably lose Egan and Baldock if we mess about and keep waiting, maybe Foderingham as well. McBurnie could go either way as could Bogle.

The younger lads it depends whether their heads get turned by bigger clubs.

We've had a chaotic transfer window in the main thanks to the failure to have tied Ndiaye to a longer deal earlier and then having all our plans thrown up in the air.
As a result we've effectively chucked the first three games and may well chuck another tomorrow. Three of those games involved teams we should have been looking to gain points from.
Any of the players brought in who do reasonably well will be sold if and when we're relegated.
It's been a make-do-and-mend job, as it often is with United. Nothing remotely 'fantastic' about it.

Dont disagree. It doesnt fuck me off, I’m just stating that calling it a “fantastic” window given how long we’ve had to wait to scramble around for players in the eleventh hour is disingenuous. It isnt unfair to suggest that blatant mismanagement at the top of the club was a contributing factor towards this.

My feeling at the end of the window is more relief than anything else. We’ve got ourselves out of jail 2 weeks after the season has already started.

Go AnD sUpPoRt MaN u 🤣 ffs

We lost potentially our greatest ever player in Illy...good damage limitation, but can't be described as "fantastic"
Who was unproven at this level. Who is struggling for Marseille currently.

He was along the best players I've watched play for us in my lifetime, but too many are of the belief that he was a banker for a game changer at this level. I'd argue that selling him and Berge, thereby allowing us to bring in Hamer, Vini and Archer gives us more of a chance of survival. Not to mention the others we've brought in that have added to our depth.

After promotion we needed to improve the forward line. We've sold Ndiyae and replaced him with Archer. Picked up the unproven Traore. We've not moved forward, possibly backwards.

A second season of McAtee is welcomed, and keeps us level with last season. Hamer for Berge might be an improvement but again it's too early to be sure.

Norwood and Souza need to battle out the 3rd midfield spot. But again is Souza a clear step up? I hope so, but again unsure. What I do know is a midfield 3 of McAtee- Norwood--Hamer would be physically lightweight, so I guess Souza needs to be in there to add some physicality.

Can't comment on Thomas but I'd be surprised if he can offer anything like what Enda Stevens did in the 19/20 season.

Hopefully Trusty strengthens the defense, just need Egan to get back to his old self.

In summary we've improved defensively a tad, and being optimistic we're about level to last season in attack. Hardly anything to do cartwheels about.

Fingers crossed another forward comes in before 11pm. .

The young lads - agree we need to sign up those that have the potential to improve to the required standard.

Wes, Egan and Baldock - I’d be amazed if they go anywhere at their ages. If we make a fair offer, they’ll sign it.

McBurnie and Bogle - their injury records are the biggest question marks, but I’d be tempted to try and get them sign up in the coming months.

Like I said, it’s not really an issue for us to worry about
