Agree totally .I really hope not- because we saw this about 5 times in 97 matches- overall rating for Berge was 5/10 at best, overall rating for Ndiaye was 10/10.
Hamer is better than Berge, Archer if he's 2 thirds Ndiaye we have a gem.

I would probably swap Ndiaye for Grealish or Foden, that’s about it.Yep, I don't think there's many that wouldn't have done that especially given the contract situation going forward, but the equation as a whole is very different, while Hamer >>> Berge there's a lot more >'s between Ndiaye and the rest of the deal
Berge for Hamer - based on the one performance he seems to fit better in our system which we’re trying to play.Ndiaye and Berge for Archer, Hamer and Souza at the start of the season if you had the choice? Tough one as we don't know the relative impacts. But I'm beginning to think we have a chance now.
Its crazy how we have started looking at it like this. We have just been promoted, we should have been adding those 3 players on top of what we already had. We cant do much about players wanting to move but financially we should of been spending 35/40m anyway but our net spend is 6m.Ndiaye and Berge for Archer, Hamer and Souza at the start of the season if you had the choice? I’m with you Ndyiae would not have the same space in the PL but he would like midfield to attack plus keep possession truth is that we do need an attacking midfield player but I think it’s too late and we’ve got to find a way of playing with what we have this season not last season.Very different players and addressing different needs. Hamer I rated when I saw him 2 seasons ago at Coventry v Cardiff. He is a busy midfielder who has a nice range of skills. Souza, I would like to see a bit more of. Berge is better than both at when on the ball and driving at teams. We only saw him play really well in the last few games of the season. Overall would be happy with the change. Davies being a good addition.
I think that Ndyiae would struggle a bit in the PL.
He has great natural balance and is tricky but I think he needs to improve his passing. Quite often he doesn't get his head up. Again its not like for like and if Archer comes in it's to be the main striker playing further forward. We all know that Brewster and McBurnie aren't reliable and Osula and Jebbison are good but raw.
I think we are finally seeing the type of players that we needed for along time. It gives us a chance at staying up and hopefully won't break the bank.
For a club that was close to going into administration in January and the disastrous transfer dealings of previous years I think we haven't done so bad in this window. If we stay up its going to be right down to the wire. I would rather do that in a prudent way with players who can increase in value or will be able to stay with us to try to get back up. This Archer deal will also look like the Prince is being ambitious but its basically a loan if we are relegated and a perm if we stay up. (spending next years money)
As it stands we have spent 6 million. Its a joke.
Who caused the bad financial situation? The reason we aren't spending / committing money is because he wants the new owners/buyers to do that. I'm not wanting him to overspend or whatever but we found 3/4m to sign Anel last year? But have less money now? give over. We will sign Archer for 18m but its zero risk as we get our money back if we go down. Add in a couple of loans for the season and we will realistically have spent 10m if we are relegated but 28m (18m of next seasons money) if we stay up.For a club that was close to going into administration in January and the disastrous transfer dealings of previous years I think we haven't done so bad in this window. 100% correct- I've said the same on several threads- he was utterly irraplaceable and that is why giving 18 million on Archer I'm all for. To make Ili and his crackpot agent stay here - I would have given him 10 million up front- he would have soon delayed his boyhood dream. But we get fed snippets of company line bollox.No. Ndiaye is a player that comes along once every 20 years to our club. He was like 3 players in 1. I'd swap having Ndiaye back for Souza, Hamer and Archer even if he only stayed till the end of the season. I still think with a few other cheaper, smarter signings than above to compliment Ili we'd have had a better chance of survival. Even with the incoming we have little chance I feel as Ndiaye gave us so much on and off the ball. Archer is a decent signing but he's nowhere near Ndiaye for me.
Granted business sense and longer. COntracts come into it but Archer is effectively the same as Ndiaye if reports are to be believed (a one year deal and then he goes). We might keep him if we stay up but we might have kept Ili if we stayed up.
Surprised everyone are now saying its a great window. I still see us in a far worse place than we were when we went up. Granted we have made some signings of more in Archer and Hamer but you could argue they simply replace McAtee and Berge?
We still need more in the next week to be competitive against most teams and some experience at this level.
The Archer deal looks clever enough to me and reduces our risk. Anel for 3-4 mil was good business until we defaulted on payment.Who caused the bad financial situation? I think I will wake up one morning and will no longer pine for Ndiaye just like I did a few weeks after being dumped by a girlfriend that I liked very much. Hope you wont be pining him for too long! No. Ndiaye is a player that comes along once every 20 years to our club. He was like 3 players in 1. You are obviously in the know more than your average fan. And with this clever statement you loved Ily as much as the rest of us. Given as you say we are never likely in a lifetime to see anyone as god as Ily again- why didn't they offer him a 10 million sweetener to stay?Swapping an Ace and an 8 for three Kings there, so Yes we now have 3 of a kind. But we won't own an ace again for a very long time.
I think we were always going to be on the losing side of the itch that Ndiaye had in his heart to one day play for his boyhood club. It sounds like he was given a now or never ultimatum. It looks like we did everything possible to make him feel special enough to stay and all our eggs were in that basket but once his heart wasn't with us we looked to spread the risk trading one elite level potential player for 2 or 3 really good ones. Someone like Souza can be less of a maverick superstar like Ndiaye but actually one day be a Caceido with his skillset. Archer again is a touch more explosive with his pace and getting shots off and this could prove to be what we need at Premier League level. The romance of what Ndiaye could have been will never be replicated but Hamer has a chance of scoring as many or more wordie goals for us at Premier League level IMHO so I think we have retrospectively traded well. You are obviously in the know more than your average fan. Thats a fair enough answer. As a fan that was really hurt by the Ndiaye departure, you always think does the Prince really get it- looking from afar on a TV screen, and although they say we tried everything- did they really try with 10-15 million pounds- I'm not so sure.I think we were always going to be on the losing side of the itch that Ndiaye had in his heart to one day play for his boyhood club. Really depends on the context but I would swap 1 year of Berge and Ndiaye for many years of Archer, Souza, and Hamer.

It's a tough one because Souza and what he brings to the team could become really important this year.I'd have swapped Berge for Hamer in a heartbeat. But would rather have gone with what we had upfront and missed out on Souza if that meant keeping Ndiaye.
Yes, I think he could prove to be our best signing. Even though all of the signings as a collective are crucial. He’s still young, but could develop into a Vieira type once he gets properly to grips with the EPL.It's a tough one because Souza and what he brings to the team could become really important this year.
