CONFIRMED Cameron Archer signs for the Blades - 4 year contract

I said on Saturday, give these new lads 4/5 games and Get the City game out the way, it's the Everton match we need to kick start the season, should have a couple back from injury, the rest getting fitter and a win against a relegation rival will build confidence
And if we can beat Everton, 3 points from 4 games isn't a bad start in this league
Point a game is usually enough
Apart from us under Warnock 😣

it's all about building a complete new squad ready for the championship (hopefully not ) next season

Don’t agree with this, this time around if we get relegated we will not make the same mistake again and have financial difficulties and possible admin breathing down our neck so we will sell anyone we can, Hamer, Sousa etc will be sold pretty much straight away, and anyone else who attracts any bids.

We do not need to build a team for the championship, we need to build a team to avoid relegation. It’s our only hope of taking this club forward because I cannot see us getting promoted again for a very long time.

Bettis and me dropped some Acid last night and watched Faceoff. He’s now convinced that Archer isn’t really Archer but actually former Blades nemesis Troy Deeney. That’s why we’ve pulled out of any deal.

Not that much fussed about Sargent, don't think he's the type of striker that Hecky is looking for.

And as for Archer I still think he'll hang out for premier league footy
you may be right about seargent not being heckys type of striker but i rate him his movement is very good and he can finish and think he walks in to our team at present we may have to be looking at these types of strikers if our main targets are out of reach financially

I was told we thought we could get Smallbone and Archer for around 15/16m and as soon as Smallbone was injured we took Davies on a free to try and use the money for Archer. Problem is reports are saying Villa want £15m rising to £20m which we don’t want to do (kind of goes with what el accounto has been saying about not wanting to spend any future season budgets)
i dont think paying 15m plus 5m in add ons should be out of our reach for archer i think hes worth that but also think the rian brewster disaster is weighing on our minds worth the gamble imo he could get the goals to keep us in the premier league and giving us another 130m next year cmon united show a bit of ambition

1- because the fee suggested is double what we offered.
It’s irrelevant if we have £20m or not, fact is that if we don’t want to risk that extra 8-10m then it means we can’t afford it.

For example…I would really like a new 911….I could probably pay for it if I adjusted a lot of things and changed future plans, but I don’t want to do that as it will tie up too much of my wealth and prevent me doing many other things I have planned, and I just won’t get that money back.
I would love for Porsche to accept 60k….but sadly it’s 120k….so there are plenty of used 911’s in my price bracket that I will instead look at.
They might not have all the latest tech, and be more prone to failure, but the reality is that I can’t really afford a brand new one. So I forget about it and move on.

The difference is that a brand new car has a price set by a manufacturer, Archer isn’t a car, his value is based on opinion.

Thankfully the ‘just pay the money’ lot aren’t doing the negotiating, they’d lost their heads weeks ago!
It's the same lot who ask where has all the money gone? Same lot who were as desperate to sign Brewster and McBurnie, with no guarantee they'd be a success.Same lot who now say why did we overspend on those two.
Same lot who'd be up in arms if season tickets were increased dramatically, yet
now want someone else to spend millions of their own money, essentially gambling.
Same lot who want to risk the club's future and possibly its existence,if all goes wrong.
Likes of Forest are another Portsmouth or Bolton or Wednesday waiting to happen.

No

The majority are sensible like minded people who just want some hope .

We are in the market for prem reserves and Championship players , not proven Pl / CL players.

Most people accept we haven’t got millions to spend but then again most people know that getting to the PL is so so difficult and that once you’re there at least appear to look interested and seem to want to try to give it a go to finish 4th bottom and all the future monies and advanced profile that brings .

Appear to give the manager a chance and the team some help and appear to project a plan that looks a bit different from accepting relegation and assuming we will bounce straight back .

I am 62 years old and been going through the turnstile for 53 years . I have seen us promoted to the top league 5 times and , like many , have never witnessed such apathy and almost helplessness from those at the top . The Prince is all over the place , stick or twist - stay or go - and all the while time and opportunities are ticking away and being missed , until we reach the point where we won’t have a choice as we will have designed something that cannot survive , as well as make ourselves unattractive to the outside world .

We have dropped out for archer and there are no plans to revisit
Shitter but no point sulking. Are we solidly after the next couple on the list now then?

The Accuntant said yesterday we'll have 2, probably 3 by the end of the window, that sound about right? Any idea if 1 striker or 2? Cheers

13 days to go and despite the added income for Illiman & Sander - circa an additional £27 million - it feels to me that we will soon be going with the -‘we’ll have to go with what we’ve got line’.

I’ll wait until 1st Sept, but the Prince is really got do a lot now to justify his actions to me & despite the transfer embargo and gross mismanagement of funds last season - this shambles of a transfer window comes on the back of £120 million this season on the back of all that season ticket money (including mine!!).

I am fuming at all this - mainly because of the Prince’s charade of supposedly Ty trying to sell the club. He’ll never get £100 million never mind £170 million. He does not even have the funds to support a Championship club never mind Premuer League. That is the crux of this shambles of a transfer window as he is trying to negotiate at a level he cannot compete in so has wasted so much time.

We cannot sign proven premier league players as they're wages are too high.
If you bought 4 of these for example on £70,000 a week on 3 year contracts, it would cost £43,680,000. That's without all the agent fees etc, so probably around £50m.
Each player then costing a conservative average of £30m say. That's now upto £170m.
What if they are failures? The club is then in real danger,as the current board cannot bankroll it.
Regarding "such apathy and helplessness" at the top, we have signed 7 and i remind you of many a darker time than this. Probably will sign 9 or 10 before deadline. Some will fail, some will do very well. Spending loads of money guarantees absolutely nothing. Every player we sign is a gamble, as like you said, "we haven't got millions to spend."
Only people accepting relegation are the likes of yourself. I certainly am not. Nor are the players, management and the board.
Ironically, one of the things that may make us "unactractive to the outside world" is the constant pessimism of some of our "supporters."
And we will survive. We are Sheffield United.

Can assure you Udders that's not gong to happen.

We go for the 1st choice, then the 2nd choice, then if that fails the 3rd choice, the bottom line is players are coming in, no matter what.
There are strikers we could easily bring in today for not too much but we're trying to get the very best that's available.

It's been said several time,s we're trying to bring in some relatively impressive players, the problem is.
If we want the highest quality we might need to wait until the last day of the window.
It's like a game of poker, selling clubs assume we're desperate (which we are), so they add the "desperation tax" when we bid.
Think we need to stay calm, stay in the game but have constancy plans, other options lined up.

We should have done a pole. Would you

Option A
rather face a season with most of Hecky 1st choice targets from 1st Sep,
meaning we're a bit late to the party and nailed on to lose our first 3 matches giving other clubs a head start
but from Sept our squad would be strong enough to compete well in this league.

OR
Option B
Bring in Hecky's 2nd and 3rd choices in place from 1st August, meaning we're good to go from the start of the season
but we'll lack quality and would be more likely to be relegated.

The difference being that we will not have spent / wasted as much money on transfers, buying real estate and the problems with Covid as we did last time we were up and will subsequently be able to retain more of the squad and hopefully manage transfers on our terms

Right now -I’m still giving the Prince & his recruitment Team the benefit of the doubt, so let’s see where we are by 1st Sept. I far from see The Prince as another Paul Woolhouse, Mike McDonald or even John Hassall(South Stand financial disaster for those of a certain age!)….in fact I think the Prince has done an ok job ….but he simply does not have the funding to support a Premier League team. That is the root cause of this problematic transfer window.I simply do not understand his apparent recent u-turn on the sale in saying he’d like to remain involved as say a 20% partner post any sale.

However all that is for a later date. Let’s see how Hecky will be helped with new players we desperately need by 1st Sept. Then is the time to judge 100% on the Prince’s transfer policy/strategy.

Yeah but can’t we have a bit of a moan and grumble in anticipation until then?

We are looking in the South American market I don’t know who for though or what position.

Thats exciting, sad about archer but at least we know there is a high chance that they will be technically gifted.
