I do wonder how many of the people slagging the prince for not spending more than we can/should are the same people who slagged the prince for the embargo brought on by our past ambitious spending spree.

I'm usually in the camp of spend money to make money but given we know the prince can't afford to run us when/if relegated then our strategy makes sense. We build sensibly, we build for next season. Untill we get new investment or ownership we are just going to have to suck it up.

People have got to keep their heads.

We now have 2 weeks to make improvements.

Hopefully in that time a few of the injured players can also return so the likes of Hackford can be loaned rather than relied upon at this level.

All the 'just pay the money' comments are a bit out of sync with managing a modest budget.

If we 'just paid the money' we'd have added about 4 players by now and spent the entire budget already.

Effectively suggesting we don't negotiate is being very liberal with the club's money and is a reckless approach.

When you buy your house, you don't just give the seller what they ask.

We need to keep our heads. Get some bids in and show some patience.

The whole want it now approach gets us nowhere when you look at who the next game is.

Look, if we can’t afford him we shouldn’t be embarrassing ourselves like beggars scraping around for tab ends outside the charity shop.
Desperation is now clear and it shows us up as a laughing stock.

For the sake of the club this board need to take a long hard look at themselves and get a grip of their failures.
I can’t believe we are having to chuck lads with zero professional experience on the bench for a premier league fixture.

It’s not like we’ve rang up PSG to ask about Mbappe, it’s Cameron Archer, hardly embarrassing negotiating for him.

How do you know we can’t afford him?

I think Traore has done ok so far but archer 100% sticks that 1 on 1 away.
I wasn't aware Archer has a 100% scoring rate!

Traore arrived with 12 goals and 2 assists in 14 games.

Archer scored about 18 in 40.

That would suggest it's far more likely on recent form that Traore has a more likely conversion rate than Archer.

But of course it's not so simple. But neither is suggesting Archer won't miss them. Archer might not even have got in that position.

I get your frustrations of course. You could make a stronger point that if we had Archer and not two inexperienced kids, then we'd have been able to show more of a threat in the last 15 and maybe Forest wouldn't have scored.

Thankfully the ‘just pay the money’ lot aren’t doing the negotiating, they’d lost their heads weeks ago!

Archer,Doyle, 2 ATM,s,central defender
We need 5 more

I would love 5, but I don't see it happening.

3 maybe? A versatile defender who can cover the back line, an AM and a striker.

I think PH will see CM as being ok (although I would love to see Doyle come back) and will support the 1 AM position by using Hamer, Slimane and even Osborn in that role (in that order) when our first choice signing isn't available.

Sou D's like we're only going to loan him because we have no ambition

I'll get my usual pelters, I'm not worried about relegation so long as we compete, it's all about building a complete new squad ready for the championship (hopefully not ) next season
Though if hecky keeps us up he will deserve manager of the season

Rules have probably changed now but didn't we sign Neil Collins the morning of the game we played at Hillsborough in the promotion season when Tonge and Akinbiyi scored?
Dunno but I have the shirt he wore in that match.

Gave it to me just before him and his lovely family left for Tampa Bay

The lads legs had gone.

Piss poor preseason (low ball quality and late signings) equals piss poor fitness.

Those telling us to ‘chill’ and ‘it’s only a friendly’ after losing to Rovrum etc, you still think same….with so many of our players cramping up after 70 mins??

I disagree earlier you bring in players more time to bed them in. So really we want them in asap still regardless of our next opposition.

Plus as unlikely as it would be you have to go into the city match with the hope we will have a 1 in 100 game where things go right and we win or draw with some luck.

The frustration from fans is that we've come away with 0 points from the opening 2 when with better transfer dealings that could easily be some points.

I look at the fixtures too, Everton at home is huge for us because realistically when is our next really obvious chance to get a win?

Looking at West ham or Fulham away either unlikely. Wolves at home thats 4th Nov.

This is the annoying bit for me. The opening fixtures were fairly kind to us, but lack of striker options has resulted in 0pts. We could quite easily have taken 4 or 6 points from those games with a decent striker

I meant the shirt next to Norwood's that you couldn't see the name properly.
Quite clearly Anel's shirt. You can see a #5 on the shirt.

Trusty is 5
Anel is 15

There's a number 10 shirt up for grabs so if it was for Archer, why would he take 25 or 35?

How do you know we can’t afford him?

1- because the fee suggested is double what we offered.
It’s irrelevant if we have £20m or not, fact is that if we don’t want to risk that extra 8-10m then it means we can’t afford it.

For example…I would really like a new 911….I could probably pay for it if I adjusted a lot of things and changed future plans, but I don’t want to do that as it will tie up too much of my wealth and prevent me doing many other things I have planned, and I just won’t get that money back.
I would love for Porsche to accept 60k….but sadly it’s 120k….so there are plenty of used 911’s in my price bracket that I will instead look at.
They might not have all the latest tech, and be more prone to failure, but the reality is that I can’t really afford a brand new one. So I forget about it and move on.

But we're looking at Vauxhall Vivas

The plus side, after losing to Man City, it might feel like Everton are an u15 team and we annihilate them.

Kicking off the most successful season in the club's history and... I'm getting carried away.

I was told we thought we could get Smallbone and Archer for around 15/16m and as soon as Smallbone was injured we took Davies on a free to try and use the money for Archer. Problem is reports are saying Villa want £15m rising to £20m which we don’t want to do (kind of goes with what el accounto has been saying about not wanting to spend any future season budgets)

Pete O'Rourke reporting Leeds are in for Archer and Sargent, two players that definitely get in our XI.

Come on Prince, give us a chance.

Not that much fussed about Sargent, don't think he's the type of striker that Hecky is looking for.

And as for Archer I still think he'll hang out for premier league footy

But we're looking at Vauxhall viva’s

That’s what we will likely end up with…a mile cruncher with next to no quality to compete on the race track.

But many comparisons can be made with the analogy…city etc are in for the gt3…most the rest a turbo while one or two are looking at 10 year older carrera’s

If they honestly thought that then they are incompetent and don’t understand the market they are working in.
Even then, offering £10m? Obvs we do t know if that is correct but it’s what’s being suggested. How they would come to that conclusion is beyond me.

we are finding out what it costs when clubs aren’t desperate to sell.
Maybe if they had steamed in for smallbone on the first day of the transfer window having got it all ready to go we might have found Southampton more willing to sell given their relegation.
