CONFIRMED Cameron Archer signs for the Blades - 4 year contract

Not surprised the loans will be closer to deadline day, depending on where we are getting them from it might be a case of getting them in when the parent clubs either sign their own targets or are close to signing them.

I really don’t understand the logic behind this rule. What difference does it make whether it’s 24 hours or 24 minutes ?? If the player is legally registered then he should be able to play. Bizarre !

I don't know for certain if those are the specific times or not and I get where you're coming from in regards to it shouldn't matter about the timing as they are registered to play for us. Not sure why that rule is there but it's been there for years hasn't it?

Assume it allows time to sort out disputes/ appeals about someones registration. Also it stops a form of cheating.

Imagine us playing Forest on Friday, their manager has done his homework on Beni and Osula but he knows we might have McBurnie or Jebbison too.
His defenders are all prepared to face whatever players we play.

Then 30 minutes before the match we announce we’ve just signed M’Bappe and Neymar and both go straight into the team to play upfront.
We could have announced the deals earlier in the week but deliberately kept it secret until 30 minutes before the match.
It brings up all kinds of “gamemanship/ cheating” issues and what if Forest then say Neymar shouldn’t be registered as he’s registered for a team in Saudi Arabia.

To prevent hypothetical issues it’s best to allow a 24 hour breathing space.

Rules have probably changed now but didn't we sign Neil Collins the morning of the game we played at Hillsborough in the promotion season when Tonge and Akinbiyi scored?

You might be right....I vaguely remember someone who no-one knew being in the starting 11.

I think the most complementary thing you can say about OM......is he probably offers Villa something different.

McBurnie always reminds me of Steve Claridge.....has a terrible running style, runs like he's in pain or injured....generally looks ungainly and a bit crap.
Sometimes can't even perform the basics like he's a league 1 or league 2 player.

However always works hard and gives full effort, doesn't like losing and a bit of a fighter/ character on the pitch, the type Blades fans over the years have liked.
He offers nuisance value, offers presence (altho falls down alot) and occasionally does pop up with moments of quality and was decent in the Premier League.
