The attacking stats don't bother me. He's not in the team to do those things, and we have no idea about Espanyols tactics - they were in a relegation battle so he might have just had rubbish around him.

I’m not suggesting that it’s a final judgement, but you’ve expressed a judgement nevertheless.

Putting semantics aside, you’ve dived in on virtually no evidence, and taken the trouble to express a negative view on the player, prefacing your comments with “is it just me”, in a clear invitation to draw other flies in to the steaming turd ( with some success) and gain some momentum on this theme.

That’s what bothers me. I have no idea of your posting history, and have no axe to grind with you, but I’ve grown sick and tired of the many efforts on this forum to create feeding frenzies of negativity on topics for which there is little or no actual evidence, and have chosen this one as a vehicle for venting my frustration ( sorry).

It’s almost if people are enjoying this. I have a horrible image of the swarm of flies buzzing in anticipation of the deposit of the “View from”, in the event that we even manage to land this player - it promises to be the worst ever apparently ( rubs hands with glee). I suggest that those folk revisit the View from Brentford on JOC, or even his early performances for the Blades, and think about the value of reserving judgement until there is at least a reasonable body of evidence on which to base it.

We know that when we push too high up the pitch, and someone with fast players does a quick counter, they are down at our box in 3 seconds and Norwood, Egan and Robbo are 10 feet behind, trying to catch them (no offence to the lads, but we all know this is true), with only Anel and probably Gorgeous George having anything close to the pace to get back in time (and in Anel's case, make a tasty slide tackle and retrieve the ball). If this lad is strong, fast, and can get us out of danger, which we will face week in, week out in the top flight, then it could be a shrewd signing.

Slimane looks like he can handle himself and we know that Robbo can, having another "enforcer" in the mix won't hurt.

Admittedly, we need additional bodies in for other areas. One thing that struck me, that the Prince said in the interview with Hal and Nick, was that wages are not a problem for free agents, so maybe they do have one or two big names, waiting in the wings?

Don't forget, if Burnley want to use Berge against City they have to register him a day earlier than us because they play City on Friday not Saturday.

Given that Souza is apparently undergoing his medical with us while Berge is doing the same at Burnley right now, I'd be surprised if the announcement from us wasn't something along the lines of "Berge departs and Souza signs at the same time".
