It seems that he'd rather play for Burnley than Sheffield United.
And who could blame him right now?

Can’t deny a man his boyhood dream
What if a broker promises to sell your £15k Rolex on for you and replace it with a better model? What about if someone could take your Rolex off your wrist for free in 12 months time and walk away with it?
Yet some on here are like let Ndiaye and Berge run their contracts down it will be fine. What's another £30 million down the shitter.
Not quite as simple, but...
If you have a Rolex that's worth £15K, but the market is crashing and you know that it will be worth half that in 9 months time, do you sell now or gamble that the price will come back up?
Fwiw I'm not against selling Berge, in fact I approve of it
I am definitely however against people blaming Berge (or even his agent for that matter) for something that solely comes down to ignorance and mismanagement by the board in regards to timing of the transfer and going to a rival.
The message it sends to current players and potential signings?Serious point - but if we've "forced him out", and are effectively avoiding losing £12,000,000 - why do we actually care?
I don't really see how (practically) we force anyone out, but I'm not sure what's wrong with it if we did?
Is he worth £12m, plus wages, for one season?I'm at a loss for words here. I just cannot get my head round what's going on. I can just about cope with Ndiaye going. Seems like he and his agent forced it, there wasn't much we could have done etc etc
But this is just lunacy. Whatever the strengths and weaknesses of Sander are, he is one of the best players we have, on his day (I know they aren't all that frequent) and this time, the club is effectively forcing the player out.
As others have said, 3 and a half years ago we thought we were on the cusp of something truly incredible. We were genuinely in the mix for the top 5/6 in the premier league, we were playing sensational, no-holds-barred attacking football, and to put the icing on the cake we spent £20m on a highly-rated European talent, that many people though was going to go to Manchester United! (sure I remember on the day he signed, twitter chat saying he'd been seen at Carrington, and nobody being surprised if they were signing him).
How has it gone from that, to this. It's just so utterly depressing.
I suspect it's meaningless. The message it sends to current players and potential signings?
I think it will be obvious to players what Sander is doing. I don't think there's any negative message. The message it sends to current players and potential signings?
Must be true, prince’s lapdog has spoken
Which part of it don't you agree with?Did you pull a groin with that stretch
The message is that players should sign a contract to extend their stay or agree to make themselves available for transfer.
the power is currently with the agent and the player and if we want to make a profit on signings we cannot allow that to happen
Not aware of this at all, care to provide confirmationYou do realize he did make himself available for transfer tho right...
Understand where you’re coming from……only issue is the broker never promised a better model…….in fact I wouldn’t trust the broker to replace it at all. What if a broker promises to sell your £15k Rolex on for you and replace it with a better model?
But he doesn't source a replacement until he's flogged yours.
Then he realises the market isn't what he thought, and he struggles to find anything suitable.
Three weeks later he brings you a Swatch, a Sekonda and one of those Casios with the calculator built in.

Ok see where you are coming from, but for reasons better known to the club and Berge those deals never went ahead. the same thing applies this time that the club are making him available for transfer as we cannot afford for players to run their contracts downSure.think back to the Wrexham fa cup game where he was absent. Hecky confirmed post match that was due to possible transfer.
SUTV few weeks later did interview with Sander and he confirmed he was waiting in hotel room with his bags packed waiting for United to get the deal done but it never got over the line.
If the club sold Ndiaye and Berge with 2 years left on their contract (before their value halved) but we didn’t get promoted last season. Would that be good management from the top? Or “piss poor” management from the top? Some of those players kept us in the Premier League for an extra season though, so would have paid for themselves. Some have also got us back there.
The profit from Ndiaye and Ramsdale also offsets that loss, so I'm not sure you can even blame the signings at this stage. It's just piss poor management from the top.

He also said he didn't want to leave, he wanted to play against Wrexham and the board stopped him from doing so and Hecky from picking him. If he was desperate to leave he would have done. At least tell the full story.Sure.think back to the Wrexham fa cup game where he was absent. Hecky confirmed post match that was due to possible transfer.

Show me the part where he says I don't want to be sold, and I will believe you .
He said he had invited family over to watch him v Wrexham and was disappointed not to have been involved.
He didn’t exactly say ‘I don’t want to be sold’ but he made it clear he wasn’t aggravating the move.
It's not just about sympathy for Sander, it's the bigger picture.I suspect it's meaningless.
They can still choose to;
Sit on their arses for a year on full pay before leaving for free and screwing an even fatter contract.
Sign a new deal
Sign for someone else.
I really don't see the issue. And the upside is our club not losing £12,000,000 in this instance. I can't see why any significant sympathy is with Berge.
