I'd like us to take a look at Sorloth again, he's been out on loan at Real Sociedad from RB Leipzig this season, scoring 11 and assisted 2, also managed 24 goals in 34 games at Trabzonspor in 19/20.

Seems like a decent one for a foreign loan, ticks the box for a striker, and a low risk punt with high potential for reward?

I think this might be an excellent suggestion as a foreign loan with a buy option.

I vaguely remember his pretty bad spell at Palace. But he's done well elsewhere, except Leipzig seemingly.

From watching some YoutubeZ I'm going to describe him as a cross between Gyokeres-McBurnie, but a more powerful and accurate finisher than both of those!?

Faster and more mobile than McBurnie, not as skilful as Gyokeres, but stronger than both. Great when he's confident and used right, awful when not.

He seems like exactly the kind of player we should be looking at...

Right age, fallen out of favour for no particular reason except perhaps news-worthiness, proven goalscorer, PL experience, compatriot at the club, probably not too sought after by other PL clubs, and (most likely) available on loan with option to buy

I can't believe we didn't try for this lad... went to Villareal for 10m eur which is about £8m, i'd take him over Akpom in a heartbeat... surely we could have allured him with PL football + matched the salary offered?

Really? I don't massively want Akpom but definitely wouldn't want this lad either.

1 in 3 in a career spanning La Liga, PL, Bundes, Turkey. He's not perfect but better than Akpom

Fair point, although if we were offering ili 40k per week, might we justify this salary on a marquee signing? Can't imagine Akpom will be coming for much less
