Bladesman
The Great Grumbleduke
Easy to be critical but I rhought he made some very good points, especially regarding all of the contracts running down at the end of the season.
I guess as ever the proof will be in the pudding. If we bring in 4 or 5 very good signings in the next few weeks things will look to be back on track
Also, we clearly have a policy on academy players contracts when moving up to the first team regarding their wages. So I do understand now why Ndiaye's contract seemed poor but I guess thats because its meant to be in line with any other of the lads who get moved up to the first team. Also as I thought we had started to negotiate Ndiaye's new contract ages ago even before last year. I really don't think we could have done more to keep him apart from literally strapping him to a goal post at shirecliffe.
I do agree that as a club we can't let any decent player walk out for free. It's not something we can afford to do.
What does irk me is we essentially ended up in an embargo over a 2 million quid shortfall in cashflow. I think that is still quite poor management of finances which ever way you look at it and I can believe that was done on purpose to stop any incomings and outgoings in January.
Trying to sell the club hoping to retain an interest probably won't get him the sale either. A lot of new owners want to buy the club lock stock and barrel. So no surprise the takeover talks seem to be going nowhere.
Maruiss takeover then there wasn't much out there about him or his finances or if he even existed so I can understand why we thought fuck it let the EFL do some digging on this. As for Dozy could he really not see he was shithouse from the start? Even if he did pay us some cash it still doesn't mean much as that money was clearly part of his hustle. Maybe we don't have the resources to do extensive due diligence but we do have a computer and access to fucking Google.
So he wants praise for appointing Hecky because it was a big decision and he got it right. In fact, he always knew Hecky was the right choice. It was the bloody fans who wouldn't have accepted him, so he went for Slav instead. So despite knowing Hecky was the best man for the job, he bottled it because he was scared of the fan reaction.
He caps this rambling mess off by saying anyone can make obvious decisions, but big decisions, when the fans are against you, are when an owner really deserves credit.
He isn't wrong though. Had we appointed Hecky right off the bat a lot of the fans would have said it was the tin pot cheap choice and why are we not looking at Slav etc. I am sure I probably thought the same at the time.
His point about credit was you don't get the credit when you make a good decision as an owner.
