Ok he’s going, but Marseille? They’re not a top European Team in my opinion, they won’t win the French League and they certainly won’t progress very far in The Champions League. I think he’s been badly advised by his Agent. Should have signed a years extension with a release clause. Played well in the Premier League and the top end European clubs would come knocking, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Seville etc. I wish him all the best but I honestly don’t think this is the right move for him at this time.
OK not in th same league as such but the Same could be said when Sharp signed for us under Adkins, could have had his pick of Championship clubs at the time but chose to go to his boyhood club

Since promotion was confirmed, it has looked to me like HRA had no intention of even trying to keep us in the PL (the rumoured pennies in the budget, Hecky's body language, signing unknowns from lower divisions in Europe were big clues). The sale of Ndiaye confirms this, However, it also confirms this HRA has gone down the same black hole as his predicessor, Mr McCabe in that he has given way to short sighteness, for fear of losing a few million in year's time, instead of telling the player to forget about a move right now and focus on having a good season in the PL for us.

I dont see how HRA comes back from this. A lot of fans will not forgive this sale, it looks like the onwers dont care. The atmosphere against HRA and his cronies could easily turn hostile as the season could now quite easily become a humilation.

For a man who has been quite astute in his business activity, nearly bankrupting the club by keeping our best assets (which took guts) to them sell them once we got promoted seems rather odd. Selling our best assets also does not seem the most attractive thing to do if you have interested buyers of the club.

It would be lovely to experience, at least once in our lifetimes an owner of this club who is wealthy, ambitious and will tolerate only sustained success.

Another depressing day in the black history of SUFC.
The Princes motivation was to get us promoted and then sell us as a Premier league team. He's not interested now in spending anymore money.
Quicker he sells up and fucks off the better.

It’s a massive hammer blow.

Short term at least it’s taken the excitement I felt out of the upcoming season.

At least with Iliman we had a chance of bloodying a few teams’ noses.

His closing down, his dropping deep, his running from deep etc. it was such an intricate part of the promotion.

It’s not as if we have many senior replacements. We have McBurnie who is currently injured and then nobody older than 20 who is fit.

Not sure what is worse, that, or the fact we could rush and fritter the money away on someone crap.

Trying to keep my powder a bit dry with a ‘let’s see how we look when the window shuts’ hat on. But when you see pieces of the puzzle leaving you know you’ve no hope to replace, then it’s difficult not to be pessimistic about the season.

It was always going to be difficult but this just takes it to another level.

To be pedantic they were Norman not French but I take your point.
Haha! Yes, they were Norse, who took over that French region, but, as Norse did back then (Danelaw in England) they assimilated and became, in effet, French speakers, and French.
I had a German girl work for us one time, who learned English from her teacher based on 'Southern England' and she could not believe, how close the Northern English was to her German - boos, instead of bas (bus transport). - and many other ways we spoke, based on the Norse enclave from Liecester to Northumberland versus the Kitchen kingdom of Wessex.

Why all this hate for Akpom if he is being lined up as a replacement?

Illy is undoubtedly the best player i have seen play for the Blades and nobody could replace what he provided for us.

But if we are to bring in the player who bagged nearly 30 goals and was voted the league's best player (in the same league we have just come from) then I can't get on board with the theory that he is shit and a one season wonder! Akpom is very good and was the best player I saw at Bramall Lane last season, aside from N'Diaye.
Is he coming then ?

I found the same when I learned some Norwegian found myself sounding like a geordie when I spoke the phrases back.

Shambles 😢

One good thing is Jebbo and Osula will get more of a chance and are going to shock a lot of people this season

That’s if we don’t sell them which there is every chance
Yep they will be shocking us every weekend though still a step too far this for them both

If the figure is anything close to £13m its a total disgrace and an utter betrayal of all those blades who part with of a lot of cash that many can only just afford , week in week out to help bankroll this millionaire’s plaything.

It's unlikely the accurate figure is in the public domain, transfers these days aren't usually a single fee anyway. Ultimately it depended on what Illi's motives and professionalism is: if he was determined to go Marseille it's tricky for the club in that situation as he could sign for free in January and play like Lundstram in the meantime.
