He’s going/gone

We move on

As we always have

If it’s 14.5 million then so be it - ffs he wasn’t god - get over it
He is/was the best player we’ve seen for 55 years. 14.5 million is a ridiculous low bar. He should have been made to play out the contract. Once again we have shown ourselves to be incredibly ‘small town’

As said above you have to feel sorry for Hecky.

And for those thinking Osborn and Fleck are squad players- give over they are THE TEAM.

Clueless hierarchy.

They always sell short. Always have, always will. When I see above average players going for £40 million, why aren’t we asking that for Ndiaye? What is there to lose? This should also have been sorted a year ago, we’re always our worst enemies, disorganised and lax to say the least.
When was the last time we undersold a player?

There is a huge difference in transfer value for a player in the last year of his contract. Can you point to an example, anywhere, of an “average player” with less than 12 months on his contract going for £40m?

A dagger straight in the heart. Thought I was too old to feel like this but here we are. Feel like princes good luck has ran out and things could turn nasty.

I genuinely thought we would persuade him to stay and I am surprised he has chosen to go now when he could have had a crack at the best league in the world. Really sad.

We need to move on though and for what it's worth IF we make a few more decent signings, then I think we all will.

Nothing lasts forever. Fucking hell though Illy... :(

Another concern on this for me is the potential change of style we might have to take. Been rumoured that our replacement for Ndiaye, whoever that is, is very different in style which points to changing the way we play. With less than 2 weeks to the season starting, not having his replacement in until Ndiaye goes, other positions not bought in that we’re after, trained patterns of play throughout preseason. Heckingbottom had a tough task before this, he’s certainly got his work cut out now

I hope the truth about this whole sorry mess becomes public knowledge.

Would certainly change people's feelings towards Iliman

No offence old chap, but seeing as ITK folk are now about as welcome as a pube in a Madras on here, you may as well cough up what you claim to know instead of mincing about with the "If only they knew" bollocks.

Well it's been touted for a while that he had no interest in staying, and was looking after himself. I suppose lots of players do that.

If there is more though, then please do tell us. Absolutely no point in teasing us and then staying quiet.

I think we just got fed a lot of spin from his agent or advisors. The club a week or so ago was confident we could do something to keep him.

In a way I think Hecky and the club got played. Some say we should have tied him to a new deal a long time ago but I get the impression after he signed his previous deal with us he was told not to sign another.

We’ve got differing opinions. Can we leave it at that please? Just ignore my comments if they annoy you?

Ok he’s going, but Marseille? They’re not a top European Team in my opinion, they won’t win the French League and they certainly won’t progress very far in The Champions League. I think he’s been badly advised by his Agent. Should have signed a years extension with a release clause. Played well in the Premier League and the top end European clubs would come knocking, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Seville etc. I wish him all the best but I honestly don’t think this is the right move for him at this time.

They are in Champions League (qualifying) and given the quality of the French league they will always be in a good shout of getting in each year. They have biggest stadium (63k avg fans, PSG in 47k) and have some older players like Auba and Sanchez who are 34 and on massive salaries, so has an opportunity to become the new club talisman. Have two Senegalese players in Sarr and Gueye. Illi's personal stock is high right now given last season, world cup etc. - he could have taken it up another level in the PL but equally could have looked poor against the high quality defences, got injured etc. I don't blame him for the move, but it is gutting for us!

I don’t believe the figures. The club doesn’t want to sell him and if he wants to go Im sure that SB and the prince will get the best deal for united

I find this such a poor decision for Ills’s development too.

So so strange.

I can understand some lives like, Deane and Jan Aa as much as it pained me at the time. But to player in the French league over the Premier League 🙄

I honestly think this will put his career backwards and can see the rumour mill in 2 years time when he’s touted around Champ teams, by remembering his good old days.

I think even if he stayed and we had an awful season, it would be no detriment to his value and would still get a better move.

But, meh…it’s football

He's done it because they are his boyhood dream club.
It's probably the most disappointing move away from the club for me.
But stopping somebody or enticing them not to is very difficult,if not impossible.
