Top photo, May 1968, lost 2-1 to Chelsea that relegated us. Tommy Hughes, the Chelsea keeper. Ron Harris, David Webb and John Hollins the Chelsea players. Mick Hill (who scored for us in the match) the Blade player.

Bottom photo: was it the FA Cup replay at Sunderland in 1956. What colour shirts were we wearing? Jim Iley, Ted Burgin, Howard Johnson and Tommy Hoyland are the Blades players

Jim Iley (with hair) looks like Tommy Hoyland

Correct it was the cup replay, not sure on the shirts was only a young boy so can’t remember but for some reason I’ve got a orangey/red colour in my head but could be wrong.

Two Blades from Dronfield played truant from school that day and went to Roker Park by train. Both appeared in a newspaper photo of Blades fans waving at the camera as they set off from the Midland station. Their headmaster found out about the truant and caned them

How people have suffered for being Blades. The youngsters today don’t know they’re born🤣

Blue shirts red sox, Barnsley's change strip, borrowed.
Sunderland wore Newcastle's normal strip, black and white stripes.
Rule was, at that time in the FAC, clash of colours both teams changed.
I believe Sunderland and Blades second strip, at that time was white shirts, hence the borrowing of kits by both teams.
I attended the Lane match.

Brilliant in his pomp, for Celtic, but why oh why did he finish up at BDTBL. Atrocious decision, couldn't they have palmed him off down the road?
Nope, they'd had Willie Henderson, a Rangers 'legend' so Jimmy couldn't go there.

The Old Firm nonsense can get pretty wearing....

I think he spent a lot of time in the Albion.

Back more years than I care to remember, had two mates both from Glasgow, one green one blue. They got on quite well, generally and at work but get on the subject of football and it weren't good.
I understood to a degree, being situated as we are in Sheffield but they took it to a different level.
Mind, on the subject of England they were shoulder to shoulder.
