Well something isn't making sense. If the sticking point is wages etc then yeah, can see it being a point where united can't improve their offer. As good as he undoubtedly is, the idea that him and him alone will be responsible for our success/failure this coming season is bollocks. Even if he has the best season of his career to date, It's going to take a Herculean effort from 18+ players this season to get a positive result.

His contribution to that herculean effort however is priceless, in his creativity, scoring ability and also defensively. Without him we are significantly weaker as a group and no matter if those that remain do put in that herculean effort it probably still won't be enough without him.
